SOAP HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRED MEEKs, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Los'AngeIes, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new. and useful Improvements in Soap Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to bath soap and more particularly tothe means for holding the same in one hand.

An important object of the invention is to provide a cake of soap having its ends formed with flexible loops formed from the same piece of tape and adapted to be engaged by the thumb and little finger so that the cake of soap may be firmly held in the palm of one hand and will thereby be prevented from slipping.

A further object of the invention is to provide a soap holding means which is neat in appearance, of highly simplified construction and cheap to manufacture.

Figure 1 is a perspective of a cake of soap and the holding means for the same. the soap being shown in the hand of the user.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the cake of soap and the holding means for the same.

Figure 3 is a sectional view illustrating a slightly different form of the invention.

In the drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a cake of soap which may be either of rectangular formation or egg shaped and is provided with a holding means generally designated by, the numeral 6. The holding means 6 is in the nature of a piece of tape passed longitudinally through the cake of soap 5 and having its ends formed with loops 8 adapted to receive the thumb 9 and the little finger 10 of the hand of thei user. As illustrated in Figure 2. the ends of the length of tape are extended beyond the ends of the cake of soap and the extended end portions are folded upon themselves and stitched as indicated at 12 to provide the loops. cake of soap and if desired the portion of the tape extended through the cake of soap may be of a double thickness thereby providing a loop at the ends of the'cake of soap. However, as the loops 8 are extended beyond the ends of the cake of soap the pressure or strain on the loops will not tend to pull the tape away from the cake of soap.

In use, the user engages the thumb and the little finger with the loops 8 and thereby firmly holds the cake of soap in position.

When bathing the user cannot lose the cake of soap since he has a firm grip on the loops 8.

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figure 3 an endless piece of tape 20 is extended through the soap and those portions of the piece of tape extending beyond the ends of the soap are stitched as indicated at 21 to provide finger receiving loops 24. The

stitching 21 prevents the tape from being torn away from the soap.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim is v 1. The combination of a cake of bath soap of a size to fit ones hand, and a piece of flexible tape passing through said cake of soap and extending beyond both ends of the soap, the portions of the tape extending beyond the soap being stitched transversely to provide finger receiving loops and to prevent the loops from enlarging and cracking the cake of soap.
