U NITED STAT EsPara-air; I 1
PEARL B. McKENZIE, OF'SED'ALIA', mssouar;
BRACELET.
Application filed October 81, 1921'. Serial No. 511,722.
To all whom it concern! Be it known that I, PEARL B. MCKENZIE,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Sedalia, in the county of Pettis and State of Missouri, have invented new .and useful Improvements in Bracelets, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention comprehends the provision of a bracelet attachment designed for] the purpose of holding the handkerchlef attached to the bracelet.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the folof the bracelet,'partly in section, showingthe invention.
through the bracelet, showing the slide in end elevation.
Figure 1 is a detail view of the attachment.
Figure 5 is a similar view of the wedgeshaped locking element.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 10 indicates a bracelet of well known construction with which the device forming the subject matter of the invention is adapted to be associated.
The invention is in the nature of an attachment designed for holding a handkerchief secured to thebracelet, and consists of a substantially U-shaped resilient element 5 as illustrated in Figure 4. The limb 11 of this element is terminally secured to one portion of the bracelet 10 within the latter, while the remaining limb 12 is arranged exteriorly of the bracelet, after beingpassed through an opening 13. The limbs 11 and 12 are slightly curved to conform to the curvature of the bracelet.
In connection with the. U-shaped element, I employ a locking device of the character illustrated in Figure 5, and which device consists of a substantially wedge-shaped), member 14:, from which projects a pin 15 having a knob 16. The wedge-shaped member operates between the limb 11 of the resilient element and the adjacent wall of the J I bracelet, andis arranged toslidelongitudij nally of the limb 11 for a purpose to be presently stated. The pin 15 projects through a slot '17 in the bracelet. When the locking member is shifted in one direction, the resilient element is permitted movement with relation to the bracelet, so that a be placed between the 7 V handkerchief may limb 12 and the bracelet 10, after which the locking element is shifted in an opposite direction to hold the element fixed relatively to the bracelet, and thereby hold the 1 handkerchief attached to the latter. The invention is simple in construction and can be used in connection with bracelets of well 76 'known construction. 7 Y
While it is believed that from the foregoing desorlption the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I
. desire to have it understood that I do not 80- Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view limit myself to what is herein shown and I described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed. V f What I claim is 1. A bracelet attachment of the character described comprising a substantially ,U- shaped element having one limb secured within the bracelet and its other limb arranged exteriorly thereof, said bracelet having a slot, a wedge-shaped element slidable within the bracelet along the first mentioned limb, a pin projecting from the said wedgeshaped element through said slot for controlling said wedge-shaped element, and said element when in one position holding f the second mentioned limb in clamping rela-'' tion to the bracelet for the purposespecified.v r
2. A bracelet attachment of the character i described, comprising a member having a; portion disposed within the bracelet and a portion disposed. exteriorly thereof and spaced therefrom, andmeans slidable within the bracelet and cooperating with said,
member to hold the exterior portion thereof ber arranged to slide within the bracelet and in gripping relation with the bracelet for cooperate with said member to hold the lat- 10 the purpose specified. ter mentioned portion thereof in gripping 3. A bracelet attachment of the character relation with the bracelet for the purpose described comprising a member having a speci-fied.- I a p I e a portion arranged within the bracelet and a In testimony whereof I my ignature. portion arranged exteriorly thereof and spaced therefrom, and-a wedgeshapedmem- A PEARL B.
