Description

TUB AND SHOWER SOAP BAR Filed May 11. 1965 INVENTOR.
WWW
United States Patent M 3,341,457 TUB AND SHOWER SOAP BAR Georgette I. Schmidt, 2658 45th Ave., San Francisco, Calif. 94116 Filed May 11, 1965, Ser. No. 454,797 2 Claims. (Cl. 252-92) My present invention relates to a bathroom accessory and more particularly to a bar of hand soap and has for its object the provision of a captivating hand-encircling band which when in use will provide a firm grip on the bar of soap particularly when applied to the body in a shower or bathtub.
Another object of the invention is to provide a novel combination in the form of a cake or bar of hand soap with an adjustable hand-encircling band which may be adjusted and used in a novel manner to fit any particular hand and which may be reversed when in use to permit the uniform Washing away of the bar of soap in an uneven manner.
Other objects and advantages of my invention will be in part evident to those skilled in the art and in part pointed out hereinafter in the accompanying description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein there is shown by way of illustration and not of limitation a preferred embodiment of the invention.
In the drawing:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective View showing my invention as embodied in a conventional bar of hand soap,
FIGURE 2 is a side view of the bar of soap as shown in FIGURE 1, and
FIGURE 3 is a fragmentary exploded view showing the cooperating parts of the connecting clasp as employed in accordance with the invention.
Upon referring to the drawing, it will be noted that I have shown a bar of soap of rectangular configuration, but it is to be understood that this bar of soap may take other forms as for example it may be flat and elliptical in outline or it may be in the form of an elongated spheroid. Embedded in the cake or bar of soap 10 there is a hand encircling band 11 that is here shown as formed of two parts 12 and 13 that extend through the bar of soap 10 where it is firmly embedded against displacement. The end 12 of the hand encircling band has a two- Way female snap fastener element 14 and the end 13 has a male snap fastener element 15. The male snap fastener 15 as shown, more clearly in FIGURE 3, is carried by a buckle 16 that is adjustable along the end 13 of the hand encircling band 11. This hand encircling band may be of non-elastic material particularly when the buckle member 15 is employed. As an alternative form, however, the hand encircling band may be formed of a continuous circular loop of elastic material with which, when properly proportioned as to length and elasticity, it will be possible to attain the object of my invention without the employment of the snap fastener elements 3,341,457 Patented Sept. 12, 1967 14 and 15 as described above. With the snap fastener elements 1-4 and 15 mounted as described above, it will be noted that by a simple reversal of the parts, the hand encircling band may be disposed at either side of the bar of soap and thus provide for a uniform wearing away of the bar of soap.
While I have, for the sake of clearness and in order to disclose my invention so that the same can be readily understood, described and illustrated a specific form and arrangement, I desire to have it understood that this invention is not limited to the specific form disclosed. It is believed that this invention is new and all such changes as come within the scope of the appended claims are to be considered as part of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A hand soap for tub and shower use, consisting essentially of a rectangular bar of hand soap, a continuous length hand encircling band embedded centrally Within and extending longitudinally through said bar of soap with its ends extending at each end thereof, the ends of said encircling band having cooperating snap fastener elements and being of a length suificient to position said fastener elements substantially centrally at either side of said bar of soap, and characterized by the fact that one of said fasteners has oppositely disposed and similar snap fastener elements whereby said bar of soap may he firmly positioned with either side of said bar of soap exposed in the hands of a user when passed under said encircling band.
2. A hand soap for tub and shower use, consisting essentially of a rectangular bar of soap, a flat adjustable hand encircling band embedded centrally within and extending longitudinally through with ends extending from each end of said bar of soap, one of the extending ends of said band having a male snap fastener element adjustably mounted thereupon, a cooperating female snap fastener member carried by the other extending end of said hand encircling band, and characterized by the fact that said female snap fastener element is approachable at either side of the supporting end of said band, whereby the extending ends of said band may be fastened to form a hand encircling band.
