To all whom it may c012 Be it known that I, ALFRED NAroLrrANo, a
, subject of the King" of Italy, and residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and mg fountain pens in a pocket of a vest or similar garment, and the object thereof is to provide an improved deviceof this class which is simple in construction andopera-- tion and which can be conveniently used, and which will not injure the pocketor the material thereof, and which will prevent the pen from dropping out of the pocket or the accidental loss thereof.
The invention is fully disclosed in the fol- 'n n I lowing specincation, or which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which dfigure 1 is a view showing the use of my improvement; Fig. 2 a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and ;-l?ig. 3 a perspective view of my improvement detached.

In the practice of my invention I provide a clamp e which'is composed of flexible material, and the jaws of which are curved outwardly at their ends, as shown at e and said jaws are also provided inwardly 'of their ends with inwardly and backwardly; directed teeth 6 andone side of said clamp is provided centrally with a circular aperture e adapted to partially receive the knob or head d of the spring arm 65.
In the use of my improvement the jaws of the clamp e are passed down over the front 6 of the pocket I) as shown in Fig. 2, and the fountain pen '0 is then inserted into the pocket in such'manner that the, spring arm (Z passes down over the closed end of the clamp c, and. the knob or head 45' thereof enters the aperture 6 In this operation. the knob or head (Z forces the jaws of the Patented Jan. 31, 1911.
clamp together asshown in Fig. 2 and saidclamp securely grasps and holds the front of the pocket while the'spring action of the arm (Z holds the pen in the pocket and the accidental removal or loss thereof is thus prevented.
' 'lhe removal of the pen from the pocket for use does not remove the clamp which remains in position, and the pen may be again inserted into the pocket whenever desired.
My improvement may, will be understood, be'used in connection with pencils or other devices as well-as fountain pens.
