IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,007, dated June 16, 1874; application `filed v March 17, 1874.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK RENAK, of Racine, in the county of Racine and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Flows, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to the mechanism for giving the plow an adjustability of draft to and from the land-side, and in and out of ground. The nature of the invention will be suiiiciently apparent from the following description and the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, Figure l is a side view, and Fig. 2 a plan view, ot' a plow embracing my invention.
In the said drawing, A represents the share; B, the beam, and C the handles. D is the standard, pivoted to the share at a, and passing up through the beam, being journaled in said beam, so that the beam may swing laterally upon it to adjust the point of the share toward` or away from the land-side of the furrow. The beam and standard, just below the beam, are provided with turn-plates d d to afford a bearing, one bein g affixed to the beam and one to the standard. At the tail of the beam is axed the horizontal slotted arc E, through the slot of which passes a pin, e, from the slotted slide F, which is attached to the plow-handle by a bolt, f. The lower end of the standard D is provided with a slotted arc, G, through the slot of which passes a bolt, g, from the leg ot' the share. A branch brace, H, springs from the standard and sets against the beam at a curved slotted rest-plate, h.
This plow is now capable of the nicest adjustment. The beam may be swung laterally by loosening the bolt e and turning the beam upon the pivot offered by the end ot' the standard, and it may be swung vertically by ltosening the bolts f and g andswin gin g the beam and standard upon the pivot a.. is a double piece, one part setting down upon each side of the handle. The view in the drawing does not convey this fact, as in the plan view it is hidden by the overlying parts. All ofthe arcs, as well as the slide, should be made with corrugations to enable a tight hold to be attained in setting the bolts up.
Having described my invention, that which I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with the share, beam, and handles, of the standard D d d a, lhaving the curved slot G, and the beam-plate having the corrugated slot e, and the branched slide F, all constructed, arranged, and operating substantially as specified. l
