IMPROVEMENT IN SCRAPER ATTACHMENTS FOR PLOWS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 135,863, dated February 11, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J. P. SwoFFoRD, of Brownville, in the county of Hinds and in the State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scraper Attachments forPlows; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification. p

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a scraper attachment for plows, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a side elevation of a plow with my scraper attached thereto.

A represents a plow-beam, with standard B, land-side G, and mold-board E, constructed in any of the known and usual ways. D represents the scraper-beam, curved as shown in the drawing, and to the lower end of the same is pivoted the scraper-blade G. Thelowerend of the beam D is beveled on its front side, so that the blade will stand at the proper angle with the plow. handles to the plow-beam, passing through the same, or by a bolt solely for that purpose. In the beam D are several holes, as shown, so that the position of the same may be changed at will to throw the scraper up or down, as de sired, the arm 01 swinging on its pivot to admit of such movement.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination, with the plow-beam A, of the adjustable and curved beam D provided with the scraper G, the said beam being per fora-ted, as shown, and bolted to the beam at 6 through one of said perforations, and connected at its front end to the lower end of the short arm 01 pivoted to the-plow-beam, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
