IMPROVEMENT IN SKIRT-PROTECTORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,755, dated May 12, 1874; application filed March 21 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD H. GARDNER, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Skirt-Protectors, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
a In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a ladys skirt provided with my improved skirt-protector, the upper edge of the protector being indicated by the dotted line. Fig. 2 is a view of a portion of the protector detached, showing the side next the skirt.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
In this example of my invention I represent a cord inclosed by the protecting material at the extreme lower edge of the skirt.- This cord gives a broad and rounded wearing-surface, and adds to the durability of the protector; but I do 'n ot consider the cord an indispensable feature of the invention, as the rubber cloth, leather, or other material may be attached so as to inclose the extreme edge of the skirt without the cord, or the protector may present a folded edge below the edge of the skirt, as seen at a.-
