Patented June 3,

BUCKLE.
Application filed May 6,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, IsAAo M. PEASE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cin-, cinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Buckle, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is a. suspensory, and the invention aims to provide novel means for assembling the belt and the perineal strap with the suspensory, in such a way that but three fastening elements are necessary as distinguished from six, eight or more, the cost of the article being cut down accordingly. Another object of the invention is to provide novel means for hingedly connecting the fasteners with the suspensory, so that an adjustment of the belt and the perineal strap may be brought about readily.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains.
Vith the above and other objects in View, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings 2- Figure 1 shows in plan, a suspensory constructed in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 of Figure'l; Figure 4 is a plan of the fastener.
The numeral 1 marks a suspensory. The numeral 2 designates a plate-like fastener comprising arms 3 located at right angles to each other. The ends of the arms 3 are united by a connecting bar 4. An opening 5 is formed in one arm, an opening 15 being formed in the other arm. A bar 6 extends across the opening 5 and the bar 7 extends across the opening 15, the bars being formed integrally with the arms. The bars 6 and 7 are supplied on their inner edges with teeth 8. By means of stitching 9, or the like, the
to the suspens'ory 1 in such a way that the are passed through the openings 5' of the fastenersand are looped about the bars 7,
the free ends 16 of the perineal strap 15 bemg bound'beneath the fastener. The teeth 8, obviously, hold the belt and the perineal strap against slipping.
It is to be observed-that three elements only are necessary in order to connect the belt 11 and the perineal strap 15"with the suspensory 1, to wit, the guide 10 and the fasteners 2. Heretofore, as many as nine fastening elements have been used, and it is obvious that the device forming the subject matter of this application simplifies theconstruction and cuts down the cost of manufacture. Owing to the fact that the fasteners 2 are hingedly mounted at 9-& on the suspensory 1, a. ready adjustment of the ends of the belt 11 and the perineal strap 15 may be brought about, since the fasteners may be swung outwardly, away from the suspenso-ry 1.
lVhat is claimed is A fastener of approximately triangular outline and comprising long and short arms disposed at right angles to each other, and a connection uniting the outer ends of the arms, the connection being of less width than either arm, the long arm having alongopening, and the short arm having a short opening, the openings being disposed approximately at right angles to each other, and there being bars extended across the openings and disposed approximately at right angles to each other.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
I. M. PEASE.
