Application ined June 11, 1923. semina 644,726;
To all wkomz't may 'concern f f Be it known that I, FRED KAWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mankate, in the county of Blue Earth and 5 State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Reel Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a fastener for attaching a reel toa fishing pole, the gen-` eral object of the invention being to provide spring means for clamping the reel to the pole with a hand lever having an eccentric for releasing the spring means when desired. This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement `of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawingsand specifically pointed out in the appended claim. c
In describing my invention in detail, ref-` erence. will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:-
Figure 1 is an elevation showing the in-` vention in use.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2 2 of Figure l. y
Figure 3 is a detail view of the eccentric clamping lever.`
Figure 4 is a detail view of the spring'. In these views l indicates the pole, 2 the reel and 3 the seat for the reel. A. stationary ring 4t is `placed inthe rod and this` ring 1s provided with a "recessV to receive one end of the seat. A movable ring 5 is adapted to engage the other end 0fy the seat to hold the same on the rodand this 0 ring is split one and has pivoted between its ends the lever 6 which is provided with an eccentric part 7. A leafv spring8 is .i
`placed on the rod. and extends between the split ends of the ring 5, the middle porrod and thus release the reel seat so that the y reel can be removed. In replacing thel reel the above described operation is reversed.
It will be noted that the lever 6 will have its free end held close to the pole when the y partsl are in closedposition by reason 0f the spring V8 acting upon the high point of the eccentric. thing `like the blade of a pocketlmife.
Fromr the r.foregoing it will be seen thaty I have p-rovided simple and effective means for holding a reel on a rod.
` It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
Idesire it to be understood that I mayv make changes in the construction and in thecombination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such `changes fall ywithin the scope of the appended claim.
vVhat I claim is o In combination with a rod and a' reel, a
IlVhen the lever is moved This lever works somesplit ring fory engaging the reel seat and movably mounted on the rod, a lever piv- 'oted between the splity ends of the `ring and having an eccentric part and a lea-f spring extending between the split ends and adapted to be engaged by the eccentric part.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature;
FRED KAWELLL
