- R. A. WAGNER WATCH GUARD Filed July 12 1922 INV TOR.
By 5W A TTORNE Y.
Patented Apr. 15, 1924.
PATENT ounce.
RUIPEB'I A. WAGNER, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
WATCH GUARD.
Application filed July 12, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUPERT A. VVAGNnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul. in the county of Ramsey and State of Minn. have invented new and useful Improvements in \Vatch Guards, or which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a watch guard and has for its primary object the construction of av watch guard that may be very readily connected to a belt.
An object of the invention is to provide a watch guard that may be connected to a belt and readily slide thereon.
Besides the above my invention is distinguished in the novel manner of forming the loop member so that the limbs thereof may be snapped into and out of connection with each other so that the device may be used for various purposes.
lVith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the watch guard.
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation of the loop member.
Fig. 3 is a similar view partly in section.
Fig. 4: is an edge elevation of another form of my invention.
At the start I wish to call attention to the fact that although I have described my invention as a watch guard there are various other uses to which the invention may-be put, such as for the purpose of supporting keys from the belt.
Referring to the drawing and more Serial No. 574,492.
particularly to Figures 1, 2 and 3 the numeral l designates a loop member formed from a band bent to provide the limbs 22 and 3 and yoke 4. with the ends partly curved as indicated at 5 adapted to have snapping engagement with each other there- 'by enabling the limbs to be sprung apart for making connection. The yoke 4: has an ear stamped therefrom which is connected by a ring 7 and chain 8. A catch 9 is connected to the end of the chain. In Fig. 4 I have shown the loop member 10 as constructed without curved overlapping ends and provide a link 11 of a formation to engage around the yoke.
It is of course to loeunderstood that the loop member may be constructed in various other manners than illustrated and ornamented in a variety of ways, and there fore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
A device of the class described including a loop formed from a single strip of material bent upon itself to form an arcuate intermediate portion, arms extending from, each end of the arcuate portion in parallel relation, the ends of said arms being curved inwardly toward each other to form arcuate members for overlapping engagement with each other to provide a normally closed arcuate end portion, and a loop member struck. out from the central portion of the arcuate intermediate portion of the strip.
In testimony whereof I atiix my signature.
RUPERT A. IVAGNER.
