Be it known t at I, FREDERICK GRAF, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supporting Means for Ironing Boards, of which the following is a description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which are a. part of this specification.

This invention relates toim rovements in supporting means for ironing oards.

One of "the objects of the invention is to rovide novel and rigid sup orting means or an ironing board of sucii construction that the board ma be positioned vertically when not in use, ut readily swung to the horizontal position when it is desired to use it.

A further object of the invention is to roiiide su porting means for the ironing board in t e form of a cabinet which is adapted to be ositioned a ainst or built into the wall 0 a room an which is provided with novel mounting means for the ironing board so that the board may be positioned vertically inside the cabinet when not in use or conveniently swung to the horizontal position when it is desired to use it, whereby when the board is not in use, it is hidden from view and the adding thereon iskept clean ready for use w enever desired.

In the preferred form of my invention the supporting member or cabinet is formed or provided with a pair of op ositely disposed, vertically extending gui eways each of which is formed at its u per end with a rounded laterally ofi'set ang downwardl extending portion, the guideways being adaptedto receive trunnions carried by the board at one end so that that end of the board is pivotally and slidably connected with the supporting member or cabinet, supporting means being provided for the other end of the board, referably in the form of leg, -the ends 0 which are hingedly co' ected to the board and the supporting mom or or cabinet, respectively, whereby the boar may be swung into vertical position when ot in use but readily ,swung to the hori.ontal position whentit 1S desired to use it; and a further object of the, invention is to 'ovido means to lock the first'inentioned an of the board againstinovement relative to t is supporting member or cabinet when th board upon a suitable supportin My invention contemplates the provision of a second board, preferably a relativel small board, on which sleeves and smal articles may be conveniently: ironed which is hinged'ly connected at one end tothe supporting member or cabinet; and a further object of the invention is to provide a supporting-leg for said small board which is so connected to said board and the supportin member or cabinet that when the large boar and the small board are in horizontal position said supporting le bears tightly against the ad acent end 0 the lar e board and efiectively'locks that end of tie large board against movement relative to the supporting member or cabinet.

Referring now to the drawings, it willbe' seen that the ironing boards are mounted in a cabinet which serves both as a supporting means and as an enclosure means for the boards. It willbe apparent, however, as the description oi my invention proceeds, that the ironing boar s may be readily mounted member which need not be in the form 0 a cabinet.

.The cabinet comprises vertically extending side walls 8, a top member 9, a bottom member 10,-and a back member 11 all con- I nected together in any desired manner and position and enclosed withi n 9521 preferablybuilt into the wall 12 ofja room.

After the cabinet is secured in place in the wall, a suitable casing 13 is provldedaround the cabinet to cover the joint between'the cabinet and the wall. The side walls 8 of the cabinet are provided with oppositely disposed, vertically extending guideways 17 the upperends of which terminate in a rounded laterally olfset and downwardly extending portion 18, see Fig. 5. The inner end of the ironing board 19 is secured to a transverse strip 20 which carries a air of trunnions 21 adapted to project into t e uideways-17.
