This invention relates to a combined table and ironing board and it is one obiect of the invention to provide a table which may be used as a general utility table in a kitchen or laundry and has an ironing board so associated with it that it may be normally disposed under the top of the table but readily moved into position over the table top for use.

I Another object of the invention is to provide a table, having its to formed of sections, one of which is hinged for movement from a, position flush with its other section to a position in which it rests upon the second section and disposes an ironing board carried by the hinged section in Position for use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a table, wherein the hinged section of the top is so disposed that when the ironing board carried thereby is under the tableit will not interfere with opening and closing of drawers of the table.

Another object of the invention is to so connect the ironing board with the hinged section of the table top that it may be moved from a position close against the table top to an elevated position and releasably secured in the raised position.

Another object of the invention is to provide a, combined table and ironing board which will be of attractive appearance and very strong.

The invention is illustrated in the accompany ing drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the ironing board in position for use.

Figure 2 is a, sectional view taken along line 2-2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a, view showing thetable and ironfiat upon the upper surface of section l. The section 8 is firmly secured to side rails forming a frame t and at corners or the'frame are legs 5 which are held in place by brackets t and have their upper ends flush with upper edge faces of the side rails formingthe frame. A long drawer l is slidably mounted upon tracks for opening and closing movement through an opening 9 at the front of the frame and at opposite sides of the table are chambers, each normally closed by a door it. An iron and other articles used when pressing clothes may be stored in the chambers and in the drawer i. There has also been provided a support ll upon which an iron may be set, the iron stand or support ll being formed of metal, woven wire, or other suitable material.

Blocks or strips l2 are'secured against inner side faces of end portions of the frame and are spaced downwardly from upper edges thereof so that when the section 2 is in its lowered or closed position the ironing board it, carried by this section, may rest upon the blocks.

The ironing board is formed of wood or other suitable material and in order to connect the board with section 2 there have been provided strips i l of angle metal and links it formed from metal strips of. suitable length. The strips It are secured against the section 2 of the table top longitudinally thereof with flanges projecting therefrom, and the links it have their ends pivote'd to the flanges of the strips M and to side edge faces of the ironing board. The table has a top including a fixed section 5 and a movable section 2 which is connected with the fixed section by hinges 3 so that it may be swung from the lowered position of Figure 4 to the raised position of Figure 2 in which it rests it, the ironing board may be shifted vertically from a position close to the top section 2, as

shown in Figure 8, to a partially or fully raised position, as shown in Figures 7 and 6, and thus allow the board to be adjusted for convenient use by a tall 'or short person. Since edge portions of the top sections protrude from edges of the frame 4 the top section may be easily grasped when in the lowered or closed position and swung upwardly to the position of Figures 1 and 2, where it rests flat upon the top section l in position for use of the ironing board. When the top section is swung to its closed position it rests U n the frame and ends of the ironboard will be supported under top section 2 and the links will not be subjected to strains which might cause the fasteners connecting them with the board and the strips H to be broken. Sheets or other large articles may rest fiat upon the ironingboard and be shifted downwardly back of the two top sections into a basket placed under the table, and certain articles may be slipped 2. Having thus described the invention, what is claimedis:

1. A combined table and ironing board, com--- rising a table, having a frame and top sections,

one top section being fixed to the frame and the other top section being mounted for swingins movement from a position flat upon the frame back of the fixed section to a raised position flat upon the fixed section, an ironing board, strips of angle metal mounted along the movable top section, links formed of flat strips of stifl metal spaced from each other longitudinally of the strips of angle metal and having their ends pivoted to the angle metal strips and to side edge faces of the ironing board. a latching strip formed from a flat strip of stiff metal and having one end pivoted at the lower end of a link adjacent one end of one of said angle metal strips. a pin pro- Jecting outwardly from another link pivoted to the angle metal strip. said latching strip being of a length adapting it toextend across the last mentioned link and having its free end portionformed with longitudinally spaced notches for selectively receiving said pin and releasably holding the ironing board spaced upwardly from the movable top section a predetermined distance, and blocks mounted against inner surfaces of end portions of said frame constituting supports for ends of the ironing board when the movable section is resting upon the frame in back of the fixed section.
