I which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawin s.

This invention relates to campers outfits, and has for its object to provide a device of this character wherein a combination chest and camp furniture isprovided, the form of the chest being eliminated when the furniture is used and the form of the furniture eliminated when the chest is used.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a device of this character wherein a foldable table and benches are provided and so constructed that they may be interengaged to provide a chest for the reception of cooking utensils and like articles used by campers.

It is still a further object of the invention to provide a device of this character including seats and a foldable table, the seats being arranged to provide the frame of a chest and the table arranged to provide the sides and ends of the chest.

t is also an object of the invention toprovide a device of this character wherein the' seat of one bench serves as the bottom ofthe chest and the seat of the .remainin'g'bench as a top for the chest. a a a V With these and otherobjects in view, the invention consists in the improved construction and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more particularly described, fully claimed and illustrated inthe accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a com bination campers outfit showing the furniture when used to form-the chest, the bench having the movable seat being partially raised from the remaining portion of the chest;

Inorder to provide a structure of this character, there is provided a novel form of foldable table including sections 5, '6 and 7, W

5 and 7 are also adapted to move towardeach other. The section 5 is provided with a pair of supporting legs 9 which are secured to the end por tions of said section inwardly'of the edge of said end. These legs have their inner edges 10 longitudinally inclined to facilitate folding of the table. The legs are secured by any suitable means and braced by angle irons 11. The section 7 is likewise provided with a pair of legs 12, said'le'gs being disposed in; wardly of the edges of the section and having their. forward longitudinal edges 13 in clined. These legs are secured byany suitable means and braced by angle irons" 1%. It will be noted that, the legs 9 and 12 are disposed a considerable distance inwardly of the longitudinal and end edges of their respective sections'so as to facilitate folding of the table. Secured to the lower end portions of the central section 6. of the table are cleats 15. These cleats are disposed inwardly of the edges of saidends to provide a support for the end supporting members 16.

These members are intended to be engaged with the center section and securedto the cleats and cooperate with the legs 9 and 12 to provide proper supporting means for the table when extended.v In thisway each sec tion .is provided with supporting legs. In 7 addition to this, the supporting members 16 correspond in length to the widthof the center section 6 and in height tothe length 7 of the legs 9 and 12. The purpose of this is to provide end members for the chest to be hereinafter described. When the table is not in use, the

5 and 7 are moved toward each other so as to permit the legs 9and 12 to move inwardly of the end portions 16. The

5 and 7 are intended when folded to engage the ends of the supporting member 16 of the section 6 to substantially provide a box which is used to form a portion of the chest.

In connection with the foldable table,

benches

17 and 18 are'provided. The bench 17 comprises a frame including side members 19 and end members 20. Legs 21 are provided, the upper end portion of each leg being disposed inwardly of the frame in such a way that the broad face of each leg engages the end members 20 of the frame, while the narrow face of each leg engages the side members of the frame. A seat 22 is secured to the frame.

The bench 18 comprises a frame including side members 24: and end members 25 which are secured to the side members. The end portions 26 of the side members 2 1 are mortised, said mortise coacting with the adjacent end member 25 to provide a recess 27. Each of said recesses is intended to receive the upper end of a leg 28, the legs 28 corresponding in shape to the legs 21 of the bench 17 each leg being so disposed that the broad face engages the inner wall of the recess, while the narrow edge portion ofthe leg engages the side wall of the recess. The purpose of this is to dispose the legs 28 substantially at right angles to the legs 21. A seat 29 is provided for the bench 18, said seat being hinged as at 30 to the frame of the bench to not only provide a seat for the bench but also a lid for the chest.

5, 6 and 7 of the table are extended outwardly and disposed in the same plane and supported by the legs 9 and 12, and the benches are positioned as desired, as they are not connected to the table. Furthermore, the legs of each bench are stationary with respect to the frame and seat.

After the table and benches have been used and it is desired to fold the same, the bench 17 is inverted so that the legs 21 thereof extend upwardly. The bench 18 is then placed upon the bench 17 in such a way that the lower ends of the legs 28 of the bench engage the frame of the bench 17, the lower ends of the legs 21 being disposed in the frame of the bench 18. In this way each leg 28 coacts with the adjacent leg 21 to provide a right angular corner member, said corner members coacting with each of the frames of the benches to provide a chest frame, the seat 22 of the bench 17 forming the bottom of the chest, while the seat 29 of the bench 18 provides a movable lid for the chest, in view of its hinged connection to the frame'o'f the bench 18. 5 and 7 of the table are then swung toward each other and into engagement with the ends of the supporting members 16. The box structure thus formed is then placed Within the chest frame, the

5 and 7 forming the front and rear walls of the chest within the frame, while the supporting members 16 form the end walls of the chest within the chest frame. This leaves a large space within the box structure of the folded table for the reception of any desired article. If desirable, a hasp may be placed on the edge of the seat 29 and a keeper on the side member 24: of the frame of the bench so as to lock the chest. This compact structure may then be placed on the running board of an automobile or in a small space for transportation.

From the foregoing it will be readily seen that this invention provides a novel outfit especially adapted and desired by campers and tourists in View of the fact that each part of the device serves a double purpose, thus eliminating the necessity of a separate case for carrying not only the campers utensiis and accessories, but for carrying the campers furniture and wherein the furniture is arranged to provide a chest. It will also be noted that the benches serve as a protection for the table as the table is disposed entirely within the chest frame formed bv the benches, and as the legs of the benches not movable, a very substantial structure is provided, capable of standing hard usage without danger of damage. This device may also be made in various sizes, for instance, in min iature form as a toy for children or in a larger size as furniture for a childs play room, the larger sized furniture providing a kiddies kit when not in use in which toys may stored. All of these features are possessed by a device which is composed of only a small number of simple parts, the only movable members of the device being the hinged sections of the table and the seat of the bench 18.

What is claimed is 1. A device of the character described comprising a pair of benches including a supporting frame and legs, the seat of one of said benches being movable, one of said benches being inverted and adapted to support the remaining bench and to coact with said bench to provide achest frame, the movable seat of the upper bench serving as a lid for the frame, and a foldable table disposed within the chest frame to provide chest sides and ends.

A device of the character described embodying furniture and a chest comprising a pair of benches, the legs of one bench extending into the frame of the opposite bench, the seats of said benches being positioned in spaced relation to each other the legs of each bench coacting to provide corner members, said corner members coacting with the frame of the bench to provide a chest frame,

and a foldable table including supporting vide a bottom member when inverted the up wardly projecting legs of the lnverted bench being adaped to extend beneath the movable seat of the remaining bench and into the frame of said bench to coact with the legs of the first mentioned bench to provide a chest frame, and a table comprising a center section, end sections hinged to the center section, end supporting members carried by the center section, supporting legs carried by each of the end sections, said supporting legs being foldable Within the end members of the center section upon movement of the end sections into engagement With the end members of the center section, said folded table being disposed within the chest frame beneath the movab-leseat.

A device of the character described comprising apair of bencheseach including a rectangular supporting frame and legs, one of said benches being adapted to be inverted for supporting the other bench in upright position, the'legs of the benches being arranged in a species of telescopic relation to define a chest frame, and a foldable table including hingedly connected sections and'legs hinged thereto, one section being disposable upon the inverted bench and other sections constituting sides for the chest, the intermediate supporting legs forming ends for the chest, the seat and portion of the normally upright bench being hinged to constitute a cover for the bench.
