- Application filed May 31,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL S. TERRELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elkton, in the county of Cecil and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toothbrush Containers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a tooth brush container and has for its object the production of a simple and efficient tooth brush protector or container which is So constructed as to permit the tooth brush to be inserted therein in such a manner as to thoroughly protect the bristles of the brush and prevent dust and dirt from accumulating thereon.
Another object of this invention is the production of a simple and efficient means for supporting the tooth brush container.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear throughout the following specification and claim: In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the container showing the tooth brush mounted therein.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the tooth brush container and one of the supporting hooks shown removed therefrom.
Figure 3 is a vertical section through the tooth brush container, the tooth brush shown mounted therein.
Figure 4. is a top plan view of the structure of the tooth brush container.
Figure 5 is a bottom plan view of the tooth brush container and Figure 6 is a modification showing the tooth brush and container supported in an inverted position upon a support.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the tooth brush container comprises a cylindrical or tubular body 1, having an inturned flange 2 upon the top edge thereof, this flange being circular in formation and constituting a circular opening 3 in the top of the container to permit the tooth brush to be readily and conveniently inserted through the top of the container 1 and removed therefrom without difliculty. The bottom of the container 1 is provided with a small opening 4 offset from the center thereof, as clearly shown in Figure 5, this small opening 4 being adapted to permit the handle of the tooth brush to 1922. Serial No. 564,987.
This supporting screw 7 may be placed in any suitable or desired position as for instance in a wall or other support such as shown in Figure 3, for the purpose of supporting the container. A hook 8 may also be employed for passing through an aperture formed in the end of the handle 9 of the tooth brush as clearly shown inFigure 6 for suspending the tooth brush and container in an inverted position upon a suitable support.
It should be understood that the tooth brush container 1 may be formed of rubber, or other suitable flexible or resilient material, of suiiicient strength to maintain its form without difiiculty. By using this device it should be understood that a damp or wet brush may be placed within the container and then packed away without soiling or injuring surrounding articles that may be packed with the container. The enlarged aperture 3 in the top end of the container will permit the brush to be easily passed into the container and the snugly fitting lower end of the container around the shankof the handle 9 will constitute an efiicient means for efficiently holding the brush in position.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that a very simple and efficient device has been produced which may be modified in its detail mechanical construction without departing from the spirit of the invention so longas these changes fall within the the openingbeing of a less size than the handle, whereby the Walls of the openifig will frictionally engage the handle to hold the brush head in said casing in spaced relation to the side and end walls thereof, the
side Wall having a support receiving slot formed thereln.
I1 testimony whereof I afiix my signature in plfesenee of two Witnesses.
DANIEL S. TERRELL.
