Description
w. Ni. BROWN BATH BRUSH HOLDER Filed Dgc. 18. 1925 ATTORNEY 15 without the use of bolts, nails or Patented Aug. 16, 1927.
UNITED STATES W ILLIALI M. BBOEVN, OF COUNCIL, IDAHO.
BATH-Barren HOLDER.
Application filed December 18, 1925. Serial No. 76,259.
This invention relates to brush holders and has special reference to a bath brush holder to be used for holding a bath brush in any desired position on the inside of a bath tub, the wall of the bath room or in any other place which may be found con venient.
One object of this invention is to provide an improved form of bath brush holder adapted to receive a bath brush, the arrangement being such that the brush may be easily placed in or removed from the holder.
A second important object of the invention is to provide a bath brush holder whlch,
VS, may be attached to any convenient place, either in or out of the bath tub, and is capable of being conveniently positioned so that a person may rub those portions of his body against the brush While in the holder which are inaccessible with a brush held in the hand.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparentfithe invention consists in general of certain novel de tails of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and spec1fically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the holder showing a brush therein.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the holder w th the brush removed.
Figure 3 is an end view of the holder.
Figure l is a section on the line 44 of Figure 2.
Fig. 5 is a section on line 55 of Fig. 2.
In the construction of the present embodiment of the invention there is provided a holder having a body portion 10 at each side of which is an upstanding flange 11 terminating at its upper end in an inwardly directed lip 12, the flange is of such height as to enable the lip 12 to engage over the back of the brush B. A similar lipped flange 13 is provided at one end, the remain ing end not having such a flange. Tapering slits 14 extend inwardly from the remaining end so that there is provided a central tongue 15 and,'as the entire device is made of suitable material such as brass, nickel plated, this tongue 15 is resilient. On
the face of the tongue, adjacent its free end is a struckup boss 16 which is adapted to enter a suitable recess formed in the brush back. At the extremity of the tongue 15 is an upturned lip 17 so that by means of the 0 boss and lip a brush, inserted in the holder,
will be kept from accidently dropping out. In each corner of the body 10 there is provided an opening 18 wherein fits the neck 19 of a Vacuum cup 20 having a flat head 21 which bears against the front face of the body 10 and, being larger than the opening 18, holds the vacuum cup in place.
In use the tongue 15 is sprung downwardly and the brush inserted after which the tongue is released. Then the brush and holder are taken together and pressed againstthe surface to which the device is to be attached so that the vacuum cups grip on the surface and hold the device and brush in whatever position may be desired. It will be observed that the device may be attached either under Water or in the air and will hold equally well in either position and that when so positioned the body may be rubbed against the brush without detaching the holder from the object on which it is supported and without the brush coming out of said holder.
There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.
faving thus described the invention, What is claimed as new, is:
1. A. brush holder consisting of a substantially rectangular body having brush back engaging flanges at its sides and one end, said body being provided with slits extending inwardly from the opposite end and providing centrally disposed spring tongue, said tongue having a lip at its free extremity and a boss projecting upwardly adjacent the lip and adapted to enter a recess in a brush back, and means to secure said body to a supporting surface.
2. A brush holder consisting of a substantially rectangular body having brush back engaging flanges at its sides and one end, said body bein provided With slits-extending inwardl 1'1'0111 the opposite end and providing a centrally disposed springtongne, said tongue having a lip at its free extremity and a boss projecting upwardly adjacent the lip and adapted to enter a recessl'in ah.
brush back, said body having openings adjaoent each corner-,- and vacuum cups having neekslazheld-qin said openings-and provided with heads larger than the openings and engagingthe upper face of the body to hold said" cups in position.
