Description

R. MQGREEN.
Fountains'for Soda-Water, &c.
NABJI Patented March 3.1874.
UNTED STATES PATENT rrcE ROBERT M. GREEN, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN FOUNTAINS FOR SODA-WATER, &c.
Spocicationorming part of Letters Patent NOISJIG, dated March 3, 1874; application tiled February ll, 1874.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ROBERT M. GREEN, of W'ashington, District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountains for Soda-Water and other Aerated or Gaseous Liquids, of which the following is a specification:`
Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, Figure l is a vertical section of a fountain furnished with a removable bottom constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a broken section of the saine.

The object of myV invention consists-in the novel construction of a removable bottom adapted to fountains for soda-water or other aerated liquids, and of which the following` is a full, clearand exact description, sufi cieut to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same.
A represents the cylinder of a fountain, and B the removable bottom, having downward and upward flanges b b, thereby forming a socket, C, for the reception of the lower end of the cylinder A. A rubber washer, c; is placed in the bottom of the socket C, and when the cylinder A is placed in its position, and securely attached to the bottom B by means of the screws c e, the rubber forms a perfect joint, and thereby prevents the escape of D represents the lining, made to .loosely it the cylinder A, and is held to the cover and to the discharge-tube by the nuts E and F. When the bottom B and nut E are removed, the lining D maybe taken out.
By making the bottoms of fountains in this manner, the weight and expense of the same are greatly lessened, while, at the same time, the same degree of strength is obtained, a perfect `joint formed, and all needed repairs to the lining can be easily and cheaply made.
Vhat is here claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of the removable bottom B and its flanges b b (the whole of which may be made of steel, copper, or other metal) with the cylinder A and screws c e, as and for the purpose herein described.
2. The combination of the rubber washer c with the iianges b b, screws c c, and cylinder A, for the purpose herein set forth and described.
In testimony that I claim Athe foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day ot' February, 1874.
