T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY C. VVILLIAMs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Altoona, in the county ofBlair and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Door Stops, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates todoor stops, and has for its primary object, the provision of a device of this character which is constructed from a' single piece of resilient material and designed to both hold the door in its opened position and limit the movement of the door in a direction toward the wall to hold the door spaced from the latter.
In carrying out the invention, 1 provide an angular shaped member having a portion arranged in spaced relation to the floor in a position to engage the bottom of the door, and a portion adjustably associated with the floor, so that the door engaging portion may be adjusted toward and away from the floor to accommodate itself to the particular amount of space between the door and the floor, as well as to compensate for any loss of resiliency which the device may lose incident to long usage.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device, showing the same associated with the floor of the room and its normal position when the door is closed.

The door stop constructed in accordance with the present invention, consists of an angular shaped member made of any suitable material possessing the desired resiliency for the purpose for which it is to be used. The member includes a screw-like floor engaging portion 10, and an angularly disposed door engaging portion 11, the lat ter being arranged substantially at a rightangle to the floor engaging portion, but which, as shown in Figure 1, is normally in clined slightly with respect to the floor.

In use of the invention, the screw-like portion 10 is positioned within the floor in the manner illustrated in Figure 1, with the door engaging portion 11 normally arranged at-a slight inclination to the floor. When the door 15 is swung to its opened position, the bottom of the door is brought into contact with the roughened surface 12 of the portion 11, slightly depressing the portion 11 against the inherent resiliency from which the device is formed, and consequently, an upward pressure is exerted against the bottom of the door, which fact coupled with the roughened surface 12 serves to efiectively hold the door in an opened position. The screw-like portion 10 provides for anadjustment of the device, so that the portion 11 can be moved toward or away from the floor 16, so that the device may be used with any door irrespective of the amount of space between the floor and the bottom of the door. This adjustment also makes it possible to properly position the door engaging portion with respect to the bottom of the door, to compensate for any loss in resiliency of the member which might, result from long usage. The device is very simple in construction, and can be manufactured and sold at a very nominal cost.
