POWDER PUFF.
`Application filed January 2?, 1923. Serial` No. 64,97l.
T 0 all whom-15 may concern.:
Be it known thatl, MAXBROGK, citizen of the United Staates', and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful improvement in Powder Fuffs, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention relates to an improvement niay hereinafter appeaiyin 7iew, I have dei vised the particular arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth .and incre particularly pointedout in the claims appended hereto.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof, in which- Figure l is a plan view of the powder puff proper with the casing or cover removed.
Figure 2 is an edge View of the saine showing one of the powder applyingk surfaces being spread out flat.
Figure 3 is an edge view of the puif.
Figure 4f is a sectional view on the line 4--4 of Figure l looking` in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 5 is a plan view of the pull, and its cover creasing, parts being broken away to disclose construction.
Figure 6 is an edge view of the construction shown in Figure 5, and Figure 'T isv a sectional view on the line 7-7 of Figure 5 looking in the directionof the arrows.
Throughout the various view-s of the drawings, similar reference characters designate similar parts.
The powder puff proper which is disclosed in detail in Figures l to l-inclusive is formed of two outer disks or sections l and 2 be-A absorbent surface such as pile fabric or the like for receiving and retaining thepowder to be applied. i
As there are two of these surfaces, it will be seen that two different-kinds of powder or rouge inay be applied by the one puit. These surfaces or sectionsof fabric 3 and are secured to theouter edge ofthe sections i and 2 by suitable stitchingas at 5.
It will be seen that to use this pu'li, the section from which the powder is to be removed is spread out flat as indicated in Figure 2. I
At 6 are shown stitches which connect the outer sections l and 2 together and are lo,- cated at a point intermediate of the folds "I in the powder applying sections 3 and 4;.
The casing or cover for the puit consists of two sections yor disks of material shown at 8 and between which the puff is sandwiched and held in such position by stitches 10 which entend inwardly from the outer edges of the cover members S and 9 and pass through said covers and through the puff which lies between them.
On their innerr facesr and their edges, the covers 8 and 9 are provided with interengagingsnap fastener members 11 and 12 so that the covers -niay be detachably engaged together to hold them completely closed about thepuif and keep the saine clean when it is not in use.
To use the puff, the snap fastener menibers located at the side frein' which the powder is` to be removed are disengaged frein one another .and the covers 8 and 9 are spreadapart as indicated in dotted lines and the portions vof the puit are likewise spread apart so that the powder applying faces forni a substantially flat surface from which thefpowder may be applied. l
Having described one embodiment of iny invention,y it is obvious that the same is not to be restricted thereto, but is broad enough to cover' all structures Corning within'the scope of the annexed claims.-
N hat l. claim is n l1. Anr article of the class described cornprising powder puff having a pair ot normally folded powder-applying surfaces, flat sections of material independent of said puit being lsecured on opposite sides of said puff and interengaging, detachable fastening means for uniting the opposite edges of said Vsections being secured to the sections .on
their inner faces yandadjacent their edges.
of maeriai independent of the pui located on erich Side or laid puff, whereby smid puff is @uiidi'viched between Smid sections, si'ii'ching uniting said SCN-riens :it placed points und exi'endiiig through rile puti", fastener iiiembers secured on oppos'e edgcf; of said Sections on their inner faces :md adapted t0 deachably Connect- Szlid edges.
Uigned :it the cit,` com und Stade of New York, this Sth day o? Januziry, 1923.
