Description
Patented Dec. 26, 1922.
UNITED STATES EDWARD S. NEIMAI\T, OF BROKLYN, NEW YORK.
TOILET DEVICE.
Application fi1ed)eember 31, 1921. Serial No. 526,435.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HOVVARD S. NEIMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, city of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Devices, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
My invention relates to toilet devices and refers particularly to devices combining a mirror and a cosmetic.
The object of my invention is a mirror combined with a cosmetic carried in a holder, as, for imstance, so-called lip-sticks, eyebrow pencils, &c., in such a manner that the cosmetic holder is adapted to act as a handle for the mirror when the device is in use and can be folded, or revolved, into a position transverse of the mirror when the device is not. in use.
My invention includes also means for the retention of the cosmetic holder in its desired open and closed positions, means for preventing the accidental removal of the cosmetic from its container and other desirable and valuable elements, which will be evident upon a consideration of my specification and accompanying drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating one form of the device of my invention, similar parts are designated by similar numerals.
Figure 1 is a top plan view of one form of my device, partly broken away, for purposes of clearer description.
Figure 2 is a side view of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is an enlarged end view of Figure 1, partly broken away for purposes of clearer description The particular form of the device of my -invention, shown 1n the accompanying drawings, comprise's a base, or frame, 10 carrying a mirror 11 on one face thereof. Fixedly attached to the reverse side, or back, of the base 10 are two supports,or bearings, 12, 12, the outwardly extended extremities of which are inclined slightly toward each other. Passing through the two supports 12, 12 is a pvot rod 13.
A lip-stick, eyebrow pencil, or other cos-' metic holder is pivotally carried by the pvot 13, as hereinafter described.
The lip-stick, eyebrow pencil, or other cosmetic holder comprises the outer cover 14, which carries the removable cosmetic Claims,
The pvot 13 passes through two aligned openings in the, holder 14 beyond the extremity of the cosmetic holder 15.
A guaid 20 is fixedly attached to the base 10 and isso positioned as to protect the head 16 when the.device is in folded, or closed, position.
When it is desired-to use the device, the cover 14 with its contents is revolved around the pvot 13 in the direction of the arrow shown in Figure 2', until it assumes the position l4. The resiliency of the supports 12, 12 will thus hold the cover in a firm and practically immovable position, which effect is further enhanced by the abutment of the cover upon a portion of the base 10. The cosmetic holder 15 may then be withdrawn from the cover 14 and the cover used as a handle for the mirror while the cosmetic is being employed.
When the use of the cosmetic is finished, the holder may be replaced within the cover and revolved backward into its original position, the resiliency of the supports 12, 12 maintaining it in folded, or closed, position free from accidental displacement.
While I have shown the cosmetic device as being situated i*earwardly of the mirror, it is evident that it may be situated across the -face of the mirror. i
It is also evident that a plurality of cosmetic sticks, as, forinstance, a lip-stick and an eyebrow pencil, may be employed as above described, and by cosmetic stick cover and cosmetic stick, as used in my- I mean both a single and a plurality of: such covers and stioks.
I do not limit myself to the particular size, shape, number or arrangement of parts as shown and described, the accompanying drawings being shown simply for purposes of clearer description of the device of my invention.
y What I claim is L 1. In a toilet device, in combination, a
'16, in order that the outer face of the head Y mirror frame, a mirror carried by the frame, a cosmetic-st1ck cover, pivotal means connecting the cosmetic-stick cover and the mirror frame whereby the cover may be revolved in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the frame, means for preventing the cover from accidental displacement in its extreme revolved position but otherwise allowing its desired displacement and a cosmeticstick carried by the cover.
2. In a toilet device, in combination, a mirror frame, a mirror carried by the frame, a cosmetic-stick cover, pivotal means connecting the cosmetic-stick cover and the mirror frame whereby the cover may be revolved in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the frame, a Cosmetic stick carried within the cosmetic-stick cover and a guard preventing the accidental removal of the stick from the cover;
3. In a toilet device, in combination, a mirror frame, a mirror carried by the frame, a cosmetic-stick cover, pivotal means connecting the cosmetic-stick cover and the mirror frame whereby the cover -may be revolved in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the frame, means for preventing the cover from accidental displacement, a cos metic-stick carried by the cover and a guard preventing the accidental removal of the stick from the cover.
4. In a toilet device, in combination, a mirror frame, a mirror carried by the frame, a cosmetic-stick cover. a plurality of pvot supports having their free ends curved inwardly carried by the frame, a pvot carried by the cover and the supports allowing a movement of the cover in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the frame. a cosmetic stick carried by the cover and means for preventing the accidental removal of the stick from the cover.
Signed at New York in the count v of New York and State of New York this 30th day of December, 1921.
HOWARD S. NEIMAN.
