Application filed January 25, 1922. Serial 110,531,673,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DAVID SEMEL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Highland Park, in the county of lVayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stands, of which the following is a specification, reference-being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to stands, and my invention aims to provide a stand that may be advantageously used in a bath room for supporting a shower attachment relative to a bath tub, the stand including a housing and support for a conduit adapted for at tachment to the bath tub faucet and to the shower attachment, the conduit extending through the housing when in use, otherwise being enclosed thereby.
My invention still further aims to provide a simple, durable, inexpensive and ornamental stand, and the construction entering into my invention will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein v Figure 1 is a front elevation of a stand supporting a shower attachment relative to a bath tub;
Fig. 2 is a plan of the same; i
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view partly in elevation, of the shower attachment, and
Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical sectional view of a tubular upright adapted to form part of the stand.
The reference numeral 1 denotes a hollow base, preferably in the form of a rectangular cabinet or housing, supported by legs 2 and provided with a slide door 3 permitting of easy access being had to the interior of the base. On the base is a crown or top piece 4 into which extends a tubin lar upright 5 and the upper end of said upright is adapted to close by a pivoted shutter 6. The upright 5 communicates with a hollow base 1 and on the side of said upright are clamping devices 7 for the lower end of an overhanging support 8. This support is adapted to overhang a bath tub 9 when the hollow base 1 is placed in proximity thereto.
On the upper end of the upright 8 is a fitting 10 having coupling sleeves 13, one for a shower connector 14 and one for a conduit connector 15.
The shower connector 14 has a shower or spray head 19 and the coupling sleeve 13 I about said connector supports a spider 20 for a curtain hanger 21 provided with a curtain 22 extending into the bath tub 9, as best shown in Fig. 1. i
The connector 15 is suitably attached. to a conduit or hose 23 extending along the support 8 and retained in proximity thereto by clips or holders 24. The conduit 23 extends through the tubular upright 5 and through the hollow base 1 with its end provided with a coupling 25 that may be attached to the faucet 26 of the bath tub 9. The conduit 23 is of sufficient length to be draped orhung coupling sleeve 13 resting on inwardly pro jecting studs 27 carried by the upper end of the tubular upright. The shutter 6 may be closed and the support 8 removed from the stand. I
l/Vhat I laim. is i A stand comprising a hollow base having a doorway and adapted for a support from the floor adjacent the bath tub, a tubular upright extending into said hollow base, a support detachablyconnected to an exterior wall of said tubular upright, a shower attachment carried by said support, and a one piece hose extending through said base and said tubular upright with its upper end extending along said support and attached at intervals from the faucot and connected to the shower attachment, and its lower end extending out of the doorway of the hollow base and adapted to be trailed over the side of a bath tub and connected to the faucet thereof, said hose when detached from the faucet having its lower portion completely enclosed by said hollow cabinet like base.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
