Ammnw anemia, or Nonrnmr'ron, PENNSYLVANIA, ASBIGNOB or onnaunr 'ro JOHN YUBASITB, or NORTHAMPTON, PENNSYLVANIA v BATH CABINET Applies/0101141101 May 31, 1929. Serial No. 887,280.
This invention relates to a bath cabinet and its object is to provide in a cabinet of this character the various elements required for bathing, all so arranged. and disposed as to be completely concealed when not in use, but with means to make them immediately available uon the opening of the doors of the said cainet.
A further object is a caslng structure so w built as to resemble in appearance an ordinary article of furniture such as a book case .or the like.
Another object is a co-ordinated mecha nism by which protective curtains may be brought into position to obscure the interior of the cabinet, and a seat element placed in position for'use when the doors of the said cabinet are opened.
Other ob'ects are, means for heating a water supply and for tempering the same with cold water.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure v Fig. 1 1s a front view of the cabinet with the doors closed.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view with the doors open and the curtains shielding the interior of the cabinet.
Fig. 3 is a front view of the cabinet with the doors open and the curtains and their supporting rod removed.
Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3. F Fig. 5 is a plan section on the line 5-5 of Fig. 6 is an enlarged fragmentary detail view of the curtain projecting mechanism at 7-7 of Fig. 6.
Fig. 8 is an enlarged fragmentary section showing the curtain material and the waterproof lming of the same.
The invention may be described .as follows.
12 is mounted within the cabinet and a reservoir tank 13 is preferably positioned near to the top thereof.
This reservoir is connected the heating element 14 by the pipe 15 and to a tub fa'ucet 16 by the pipe 17 A cold water pipe 18 leads to the opposite faucet 19. A dram pipe 20 serves to carry oif the used water from the tub. The heating element may be of any type desired, such as gas, electric, or otherwise.
The curtains 22 are preferably constructed with an outer covering or fabric 23, and an inner lining 24 which may be of rubberized cloth or any waterproof material. shown in'Fig. 8. These curtains are slidably suspended on a rod 25 and this rod has side members 26 which merge into slide elements 27. These elements may be best understood on reference to Figs. 6 and 7 of the drawings. The slide elements are su ported by the guides 28. At the ends of the slide elements are lugs 29 and to these are pivotally secured the pull levers 30.
These levers are secured b pivots to the door lugs 31. Referring to Fig. 6 it will be seen that when the doors are opened the levers will draw the slide elements forward thus projecting the curtain rod outward into its forward position as indicated by the dotted lines 35. This places the curtains at a. distance from the interior of the cabinet and leaves ample room for a person to use the tub and the adjacent seat 36 which is seen in the several open views.
The seat 36 is foldably mounted near to the tub on the base members 37, and is held in operative position by the slide brackets 38 which have brace members 39 slidably connected to the vertical rods 40. Referrmg to Fig. 5, a side lever 41 is seen which operates the seat '36 and raises some to its vertical, folded position as indicated by the dotted lines 42 seen in Fig. 4. This lever is actuated b the cable 43 acting over the pulley 44 an aflixed to the lug 29 of the curtain projecting elements. The seat and the out This is tains are simultaneously moved into operative positions b the coordinated mechanism as reviously escribed and are withdrawn an ,folded within the cabinet upon the closin of the doors thereof.
ile the cabinet as shown is a portable structure, the apparatus therein contained ma be built into a room or closet if desired, it is further understood that such other 10 minor changes may be made therein as may come within the spirit and scope of the appended claims without the relinquishment of any{ of the inherent rights of the invention. aving thus described my invention, what 15 I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is 1. In combination with a closet having hinged doors, horizontal guides secured within the closet, a rod having a transverse por- :3 tion for supporting a curtain and side arms slidably secured on-the guides, pull levers pivotally secured at their front ends to the doors and at their rear ends to the guides for projecting the curtain outward upon open- :5 ing of the doors.
2. In combination with a closet having hinged doors, horizontal guides secured Within the closet, a rod having a transverse portion for supporting a curtain and side arms no merging into slide elements secured on the ides, pull levers pivotally secured at their ont ends to the doors and at their rear ends to the guides for projectin the curtain outward upon openin of the doors.
35 In testimony w ereof I have afiixed my signature.
ANDREW RUSATZ.
