BATH 'CABINET.
v APPLICATION FILED NOV-30. 7917/ 2 SHEETS$HEET 1- TT *3 LE" Q Patented Sept. 3, 1918.-
STATES onnion.
LEON A. rnimannnvi, or wI Lsoiv, NORTH CAROLINA:
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON A. FERRANDINI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wilson, in the county of Wilson and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath Cabinets, of which the following is a specification. Y
The present invention relates to bathcabinets and consists in the combinations of parts hereinafter described and particularly set forth in the accompanying claims.
The invention has for its purpose to provide a portable bath-cabinet for household use which comprises a bath-tub, a water. supply tank therefor, means for heating the water, a locker for toilet articles, and a wash basin, all mounted on a suitable supporting structure and so arranged that the bath-tub may be easily raised from its position on the floor to house the other apparatus.
A further purpose of the invention is to provide a bath-cabinet of the above mentioned type which is of simple and inexpensive construction, and arranged in a compact manner to the end of being readily accessible and economical of space, and one wherein no particular or'special knowledge is required for its use.
The bath-cabinet is intended primarily for the use of those whose homes are located in outlying districts or elsewhere, where the conveniences of the modern bath-room are not available or where there is no water or gas main supply.
The invention is shown by way of illustration in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the bath-cabinet complete.
Fig. 2 a centrals'ectional view of the same taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 a detail sectional view of the water tank.
Fig. 4 a horizontal sectional view thereoftaken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 a detail view of the wash basin, and
Fig. 6 is a top plan view .of said basin.
Referring to the construction in further detail, 1 designates a. suitable supporting structure adapted to be set against'the wall in any convenient position in the room, and Which is separated into compartments 2 and 3. A locker or medicine cabinet 4 is located in the compartment 3c-at the upper end. 5
BATH-CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 3,1918. Application filed November 30, 1917. Serial No. 204,678. i v A designates an inclined shelf for supporting a comb -and brush or the like; 6 is a towel bracket or roller, preferably of glass; and 7 is a seat chest having a hinged cover for varying purposes.
A pair of brackets or arms 8 is secured to 1 thefsupporting structure at the lower end of the compartment 2, and is provided with slots 9 receivingthe tILlIlIlllOIlS 10 of the bath-tub 11 that is adapted to be swung into an upright position or lowered horizontally, asw'ill be understood.
The tub 11 has a suitable outlet 12 adapted for draining purposes;
A pair of spring members 13 are wrapped about the trunnions 10 and have their respective end portions engaging said arms 8 and the ledge 1A of the bath-tub as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2. Said springs are adapted to assist in the lifting movement of the bath-tub when the same is lifted from its position of use. Said bath-cabinet is adapted to have a little sliding movement in the supporting arms 8 as provided for by the pair of slots 9 that receive the trunnions 10. Thus by this arrangement the tub is first moved to its innermost position before being raised and thereby an economy of space is obtained. i
A water supply tank 15 is mounted above the tub 11 and secured to the cabinet structure by any suitable fastening means. Said tank has a faucet 16 disposed to deliver the water into the tub, as shown in Fig. 2.
A fuel burner 17 is located beneath the water tank 15 in a position to heat said tank,
and said burner is properly provided with a flame guard or outer casing 18 that supponts said burner, or burners, and is itself mounted on the pair of lazy-tongs l9 inthe manner indicated in Fig. 2. The pur-pose of thus mounting the heating apparatus is to enable said apparatus to be readily brought into position for heating the water tank or to be moved out of said position when desired.- A fuel supply tank 20 is suitably mounted on the heating apparatus as shown in Fig. 1.
The water supply tank 15 isconstructed With a pair of internal flues 21, having outlets 22, and said fines are located imme- 7 diately over the burners 17 in such a manis swiveled in a bracket 25 that is secured to the partitioning wall 26 between the cabi net compartments. The basin 23 is adapted to be swung to a position immediately under the faucet 16 of the tank 15, and also. -to swing to a position within the compart-' ment. 3 convenient to the apparatus'ltherein as will be understood.
It is obvious that those skilled in the art may vary the details of construction and --arrangement of parts w thout departlng 20 a. supporting structure, a pair of slotted brackets mounted von said structure, a bathcopies of this patent-may be obtained .for
tub slidable in the slots of the brackets and mounted to swing on said brackets, a pair of springs mounted on the brackets and adapted to assist the swinging movement of the bath-tub, a water supply tank, and a heater for said tank, substantially as set forth.
2. In a bath-cabinet the combination of a supporting structure, a pair of slotted brackets mounted on said structure, a bath-tub having trunnions slida'ble in the slots of the brackets and mounted to swing on said brackets, a pair of springs mounted on the bath-tub trunnions and engagingsaid brackets and the bath tub to assist the swinging movement of the bathtub, a water supply tank, a fuel burner located beneath the water tank, and a fuel supply tank for said burner, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
