COMBINED WALL CABINET AND DRESSING TRAY.
Application filed May 29,
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, Enwirt O. HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bangor, in the county of Penobscot and State of Maine, have invented new and useful rm provements in Combined il all Cabinets and Dressing Trays, 01' which the following is a specification.
This invention, which I call a combined wall cabinet and dressing tray, has for its object to provide an appliance adapted to house and protect, and to display for con venient access, the various articles used in dressing infants.
The invention is embodied in the improvements which I will now proceed to describe and claim.
Of the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an appliance embodying the invention, adjusted for use.
Figure 2 is a perspective View, showing the appliance closed.
Figure 3 is a section on the plane indicated by line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure l is a section on the plane indicated by line 2- 1 of Figures 2 and 3.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts in all of the figures. I
The appliance comprises a body adapted to be mounted on a wall, or other vertical support, and including a bottom member 12, a top member 13, a back member 1 1, and two end members, each of which is preferably composed 01 two portions 15 and 16, spaced apart to form a housing space 17 for a purpose hereinafter stated. Said parts form an open front body.
The appliance also comprises a cover member 18, hinged at 19 to the bottom member 12, and adapted to be lowered as shown by Figure 1 to stand flush with the bottom member 12, and to be raised as shown by Figures 2 and 3, to cover the open front. The cover member 18 is provided with a three sided curb 2O obstructing the outer e 'e and the ends of the member 18, leaving -o u v the meeting edges or the members 18 and 12 unobstructed for simultaneous use as a tray LEUttOlll, as shown by .l-iguro 1. hard outer curb is adapted to confine articles deposited on the member 18 and 18 also adapted to en 1920. Serial No. 335,244.
ter the body portion when the member 18' is raised.
The curb 20 is three-sided, that is to say, it is composed of an outer member parallel with the outer edge of the cover member 18, and two transverse members parallel with the opposite ends or" said member, the form of the curb being such that it is adapted to confine articles on the cover member 18, without obstructing the bottom member 12, so that when the cover member 18 is lowered, the members 12 and 18 constitute a continuous tray bottom, as shown by Figure 1.
Any suitable means may be provided to support the member 18 when it is lowered. I prefer to employ as the supporting means two flexible supporting members 22, which may be lengths of chain, attached at 23 to the member 18, and at 21, within the housing spaces 17. The attaching meansat 24 may be screws inserted in the end member portions 15 and 16, and passing through end links of the chains.
WVhen the outer member 18 is raised, the flexible members 22 are housed in the spaces 17, as shown by Figures 3 and 1, so that they are concealed from without and cannot contact with articles within. The bottom member 12 and the cover member 18 constitute a relatively large and capacious tray bottom, when the member 18 is lowered, articles depositeo on said tray bottom being confined by a tray wall portion formed by the back and end members of the body and by a tray wall portion formed by the curb 20 on the member 18.
It will be seen by reference to Figure 1 that the said tray wall portions practically surround the tray bottom formed by the members 12 and 18, so that articles deposited on said bottom are confined against horizontal displacement in any direction. Said articles may be stored on the bottom member 12 and protected by the body and cover members when the appliance is not in use, and spread on the tray bottom for convenient access when the appliance is adjusted for use.
The structure may be of suitable size and suitably proportioned to support a baby in a recumbent position when the cover member 18 is lowered, the baby lying on the cover member and being confined by the curb. The bottom member at the same time constitutes a support for diapers, and other toilet articles, these being stored beside the recumbent baby in position for convenient use.
I claim A combined Wall cabinet and dressing traycomprising a body adapted'to be hung .upon a Wall and including bottom, back, end
and top members,'the bottom, end and top members forming an open front, a cover member formed to close said front and hinged to the said'bottom member, means being provided for supporting the cover member flush with the bottom member, and a three-sided curb attached to the cover member and obstructing the outer edge and ends of the latter'leaving the inner edge unobstructed, the said bottom and cover members constituting the bottom of a dressing tray, the back and end members and the three-sided curb collectively constituting a confining Wall surrounding the tray bottom when the cover member is flush with the bottom member, the cover member and curb being adapted to support and confine a baby In testimony whereof I have 'aflixed my.
signature.
