Be it known that I, ANNA R. l-Linrnn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Ame-s, in the county of Story and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useful Traveling-Suitette, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has to do with a traveling suitette of simple, durable and inexpensive construction.

More particularly it is my object to provide a device that may be readily and easily parked in proper form for transportation as baggage, express or freight, and which is adapted to serve as piece of furniture when in use in the house.

A further object is to provide a device of the kind under consideration, having a bottom member and a mirror adapted to be quickly and readily removed, the suitette being of such size that the removable bottom and mirror may be placed on the inside thereof, said suitette being adapted when in use to readily contain and conceal a wardrobe trunk.

1 further object is to provide such a suitette having doors and having removable mirrors adapted to be mounted in such doors or to be removed therefrom and packed inside of the device.

With these and otherobjects in view, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of the various parts of my device, whereby the OlJjGQlJS contmnplatcd are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Many persons are obliged to move frequently from oneplace to another and are accustomed, for instance, to use sc-called wardrobe trunks. These trunks are very convenient in packing clothes, but are not conveniently disposed of when staying temporarily in any particular place. They are hard to move on the floor and are unsightly in a room.

It is my purpose to provide what I have called a traveling suitette, which comprises a suitable wardrobe or container adapted to receive the wardrobe trunk when in open position, which suitetteis provided with a removable mirror adapted to be mounted at the top thereof and with a removable bottom adapted to support the suitette and provided with rollers, whereby the suitette ma be readily moved from place .to place. The suitette has doors which receive removable mirrors.

In the accompanying drawings, I have used the reference numeral 10 to indicate generally the back of my device, which is provided with'the top 11, the side walls 12 and the bottom 13.

Hinged to the side walls 12 are the doors ll, provided with some suitable locking device 15;

l /Iy device, it will be seen, has generally the form of a box or container, and is of such size as to receive a wardrobe trunk or the like, as illustrated by dotted lines in Fig. 1, when the latter is in open position and to leave a space above the wardrobe trunk.

lVithin the suitette on the bottom, back and sides thereof are protecting strips 16.

Gn the inner surfaces of the side walls near the upper part of the suitette are horizontal strips 1'? adapted to detachably support a shelf 18, which may be removed and laid flat against the back of the suitette on the inside thereof.

Secured to the lower surface of the bottom 13 is a. detachable bottom 19, having the casters 20 for supporting the device and permitting its ready movement to different places in a room.

Secured to the upper back of the device are bracket arms 21 between which arms is pivotally mounted a mirror 22.

@n the interior of the doors 14 are spaced opposite upright guides 23 connected at their lower ends by a guide and supporting member 24. For the inside of each door, I have provided a mirror 25, having a backing 26 of suitable material. In the practical use of my device in a room, the parts are assembled as herein described and shown in Fig. 1, and it will be seen that the wardrobe trunk may be placed in the suitette in open position, and when the doors are closed, the wardrobe will be entirely concealed and the suitette will have the appearance of a piece of furniture.

The wardrobe trunk, as received in the suitette, may be readily moved from place to place and may be concealed from view.

l/Vhen the user desires to travel from one place to another, the wardrobe trunk is'removed. The mirrors 25 are slid upwardly out of their guides and are packed on the in terior of the device. The screws 28, which secure the bottom 19 to the bottom 18 are removed and the bottom 19 may then be placed on the interior of the suitette.

It Will, of course, be understood that the shelf 18 is lifted from its supporting trips 17 and placed in the inside of the device.

The screws 29, shown by dotted lines in Fig. l, are removed and the mirror 22 with its brackets 21 may be packed on the interior of the device.

The doors can then be closed and the suitette wrapped or packed in any suitable way and readily shipped from place to place, and it then has no projecting parts, which would he likely to be broken off during shipment.

It will be noted that the suitette is of such size and shape that the mirrors and extra bottom may be readily packed on the inside thereof with clothing, bed clothing or the like.

ll find that a device of this kind is of great convenience to'those who are obliged to move frequently from place to place. 7

It affords a proper looking piece of furniture when in use in a room and affords means to conceal the wardrobe trunk and for readily moving the trunk from place to place in the room.

When the detachable parts are removed and placed on the interior of the device, the entire device may be readily packed in convenient form for storage or transportation.

Some changes may be made in the arrangement and construction of the various parts of my device, without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims, any modified forms of structure, or use of finechanical equivalents, which may be reasonably included within the scope of such claims.

The device is especially adapted for the convenience of those who spend the winter season for instance in a warm climate, and can use my suitette in place of a trunk, while traveling and also as a piece of furniture in a I claim as my invention:

1. A device of the class described, having a back and side walls anda top and a bottom, doors hinged to the side walls, a removable bottom having rollers, brackets adapted to be detachably mounted at the top of said device, a mirror pivotally mounted between said brackets, said device being of such height that the assembled mirror and brackets can be removed from the top of the device and placed on the interior of the d vice, and also of. such size that the removable bottom with its rollers may be placed on the interior of the device, the device having on its interior protecting strips on its bottom, sides and back, horizontal strips on the sides of said device near the top thereof, and a detachable shelf adapted to rest on said strips, the doors of said device being provided on their interior with spaced side guides and a bottom guide, mirrors detachably received in said guides and adapted to be removed therefrom and placed on the in terior of the device.

2. A device of the class described, having a back, sides, top and bottom members, said bottom, side and back members being provided with protecting strips, the device being adapted to receive a wardrobe trunk or the like, and having on its interior on its sides horizontal strips, a detachable shelf adapted to rest on said strips, a de tachable bottom provided with rollers adapted to be removed and placed in said device, a detachable mirror adapted to be supported on said device at the top thereof or to be removed therefrom and placed on the interior of the device, hinged doors for said de ice, mirrors detachably mounted. on the inner sides of the doors and adapted to be removed therefrom and placed on the interior of said device.
