DEVICE FOR PREVENTING- THE GDVERLET FROM DROPPING OFF THE BED.
isses.
Application filed December 7, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERWIN ZIESENIS, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Burgdorf, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Preventing the Coverlet from Dropping Oil the Bed, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device attached to beds and designed to prevent the coverlet from dropping off the bed. The device consists of an articulated bar of wood, metal or the like fixed at one end to the bedstead and stretched along the side part of the bedstead between said side part and the mattress and being adapted to be bent so that it assumes an upright angular position and serves as guard for the coverlet.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood, I shall proceed to describe the same with reference to the form of construction shown on the accompanying drawing, wherein Fig. 1 is a side elevation,
big. 2 an end elevation partly in section.
To the inner surface of the side part a of the bedstead one end of the guard is fixed by means of a screw 6. This guard consists of two rods 0, 03 connected the one with the other by an articulation c. On Fig. l the guard is indicated in dash lines in the normal position between the mattress e and Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apia til, 1322.
Serial No. 520,671.
the inner surface of the side wall a of the bedstead.
In order to prevent the coverlet f from dropping off the bed the person who uses the bed pushes the rod 0Z towards the foot end of the bedstead so that the guard assumes the angular position shown on Fig. 1. This guard for coverlets is specially useful for patients suffering from fever which sometimes throw off the coverlet. The device is further very useful if children have to sleep in large bedsteads or if a person has a restless sleep. The guard can be sold as a separate article so that it can be fixed to any bedstead.
I claim A device for preventing the coverlet from dropping off the bed consisting of two rods hingedly connected the one with the other placed between the mattress and the side wall of the bedstead, means for fixing one end of the guard to the bedstead so that the free end of the guard can be pushed towards the fixed end so that the rods stand at an angle the one to the other.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ERWIN ZIESENIS.
Witnesses KARL ZUKALE, WILHELM GERMANN.
