struction as will not be injured during the laundering of the shirt.
The invention contemplates the provision' of a base plate, adapted to be sewed orotherwise permanently attached to a garment, and a button member/having a shank which is" hinged to said base plate so that it may be fol ed down into the plane thereofduring the laundering process. Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
The invention will be first hereinafter described-in connection with the accompanying drawings, which constitute part of this specification, and then more specifically defined in the claims at the end of the description.

In a collar button, the combination with a base plate having a notch in its edge and a slot spaced from the end of said notch leaving a bridge member between them, or" a button having a shank hinged to said bridge member and adapted to fold into said notch, said shank having a tongue at its inner end bent around said bridge member and through said slot to form the hinge connotch and adapted to fold into the latter with the button in the plane of said corrugation for the purpose specified.
