GABLER, citir'ten of the United Stat-es, residing at ond du Lac. in the county of Fond du Lac and State of ll isconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose rdupporters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to hose supporters and has for an important objetzt thereof the provision of a locking hose supporter of such construction that the annoyance and discomfort occasioned when the hose becomes accidently detached from the sup porter is eliminated.

A further object of the invention is to provide a new and improved hose supporter arranged to readily permit the connection and disconnection of the supporter with the hose but preventing movement of the sections of the supporter which would tend to disengage it from the hose.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which. will securely clasp and hold the hose without danger of tearing or otherwise injuring the material thereof.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a hose supporter which may be readily and cheaply manufactured and which will be durable and eilicient in service.

These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accom anying drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a hose supporter constructed in accordance with my invention;

Figure 2 is a sectional view taken through the hose supporter in the closed position, the hose being indicated by dotted lines;

Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of the lower end of the metal clasp of the hose supporter and the hinge of the locking piece to be applied thereto;

Figure 4 is a front elevation of the looking piece;

Figure 5 is a side elevation thereof;

Figure 6 is a detail sectional view of the lower end of the metal clasp of the hose supporten showing the manner of constructing the locking hinge when the clasp is formed from sheet metal.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the hose supporter includes the usual flexible strap 10 provided at its lower end with a button 11 at one side of the strap, this button being provided adjacent its outer end with a rim or bead 12 of rubber or other resilient material. The hose supporter further includes the usual clasp piece 13 engaged with the strap 10 at its upper end and having formed interiorly thereofa keyhole slot 14 receiving the neck of the button 11 in the smaller portion thereof but permitting passage of the flange 12 only through the larger portion thereof, this smaller portion being located at the lower end of the clasp 1 3. These clasps are variously formed and the structure thereof except as to the general shaping forms no portion of my invention. In the applied position of the supporter the bight portion 15 forming the lower end of the slot 141 abuts the button 11 at the side thereof remote from the point of attachment of the clasp 13 to the strap 10.

Certain of this type of fastener are formed from sheet metal and others are formed from bent wire. In the latter construction the wire at the bightportion 15 is flattened, as indicated in Figure 3. and a support 16 secured thereto, this support including a flattened embracing portion 17 closely fitting the flattened bight portion 15 of the clasp 13 and having its free end which lies below the bight portion 15 bent back to form a loop 18, There the clasp is stamped from sheet metal in the course of construction the bight portion 15 thereof can be provided with a downwardly projecting tab 19 the end of which is rolled back, as indicated by dotted lines in Figure 6, to provide the loop 18. In combination with this mounting I provide a ring 20 formed from a single piece of wire. the side of the ring at which the ends of the wire meet being slightly flattened as indicated at 21. These ends of the wire are engaged in the loop 18. The distance between this flattened portion 21 and the diametrically opposed portion of the ring 20 is slightly less than the distance between the loop 18 and the upper side of the button 11 when this button 11 is in engagement with the bight portion 15 of the clasp 13 and the garment supporter in the garment securing position. Due to the resilient construction of the flange 12 this portion of the ring may be readily forced over this flange to apply the ring to the locking position shown in Figure 2. hen so applied, since the diameter of the ring will not permit upward movement of the button and such upward movement of the button is necessary to align the flanged head thereof with the enlarged portion of the keyhole opening 141-, it is impossible for the garment to become separated from the supporter. At the same time this flange upon-the head of the button 11 will etfectually prevent movement of the ring to the open or releasing position in which the button may move. In order to facilitate removal or disengagement of the ring from the button, this ring preferably has those portions forming what may be termed the sides thereof or those portions lying between the flattened portion 21 and the portion of the ring diametrically opposed thereto arouately curved, so that they stand in spaced relation to the adjacent portions of the clasp 13 when the ring is in the locking position and are accordingly readily accessible.

IVhile I have above referred to the device as a hose supporter, it will be obvious that this is but one of its many functions as it can be readily employed for holding other articles of wearing apparel of various kinds. It will furthermore be obvious that the structure hereinbefore set forth is capable of a certain range of change and 1nodiflcation without materially departing from the spirit of my invention and I accordingly do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim 1. In combination with a garment supporter comprising a keyholed clasp, a button bearing strap with which the keyholed clasp is engaged, the button of the strap garment engaged therewith, said button having a resilient flange at its upper end, a

In combination with a garment supporter comprising a keyholed clasp, a button bearing strap with which the keyholed clasp is engaged, the button of the strap having a head engageable through the opening of the keyholed clasp at the large portion of the clasp, the bight portion forming the lower end of the smaller portion of the opening of the clasp limiting the downward movement of the button in the opening and combining with the button to maintain the garment engaged therewith, said button having a resilient flange at its upperend, a ring pivoted to said bight portion of the clasp and swingable to engage over the button, said ring being engageable beneath the flange of the button by pressure deformir the flange, a pivotal connection between sa? bight portion and ring comprising a plate embracing said bight portion at one end to prevent relative movement of the plate and clasp, the opposite end of the plate having a loop through which the ring extends."
