POCKET PROTECTOR.
Specieationof Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 14, 1922.
Application filed March 22, 1919. Serial No. 284,250.
To all whom t may concern;
Be it known that I, CHANCY K. MiLri- MORE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Janesville, county of Rock, and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket, Protectors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a pocketprotector, and has for its object the production of a device which will preventl the contents of a pocket in clothes from slipping out or being easily =removed while the same is being worn.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combina,- tions and arrangements )of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood4 Fig. 2, is a side elevation of thc device V applied, Vpartly in section,
F ig. 3, is a perspective view of the de vice, and
Fig. el, represents a side elevation of Fig. 3, showingthe device applied.
The preferred form of construction, as illustrated in the drawings, comprises a main body l, formed preferably of metallic steel. having one end doubled upon itself as at 2, forming-a clamp thereby. The lower end of member l is inwardly turned, as at 4, for the purpose of affording a closer Contact between said member l and the article held thereby. The doubled-over portion Q, at its lowest extremity, is outwardly offset as at 3, for the purpose of permitting` the object to be clamped thereby to slide more readily between the. doubled-over portion and the elongated portion of member l. In Fig-2. the device isshown in -its applied position, 5 representing the pocket, and G, a pocketbook or contents of the pocket. vThe device is used to `protect the contents of a pocket and is applied by sliding the doubled-over portion Q on the inside of the belt or waist-band l0 of a pair of trousers, therebysecurely clamping the belt or waist-band. The lower end of member l is then inserted in the hip pocket 5 of the Vthe purpose of also providing a key ring carrier. Y
Vhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of'construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is .capable of variation and modification without departing f 'roml` the spirit of the invention. l, tlierefore,do not wish to be limited to the precise details ofV construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invent-ion, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters` Patent is y l Y l. Av pocket-protecting device comprising a main body having one end doubledv upon 'itself to form a clamp, the lower end of saidbody beingadapted vto be inserted in a pocket to press the contents thereof against the body of the wearer; an integral lip formed at the upper end of said body, said lip being buckled to form a groove; Vand a key iing'inserted in said groove, substantially as described.
2. A pocket-protecting device compris-Y ing a body having one end doubled upon itself to form a clamp,said clamp arranged to receive a belt and support thesaid body z in pocket, the lower portion of said body arranged to press theV contents thereof against the body of the wearer; an integral lip formed atthe upper end of said body, said lip being buckled to form a groove; and a key ring inserted in .said groove, substantially asdescribed.`
in testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses,
CHANCY K. MLTIMGRE.
