Description

W. A. SEIBEL.
GARMENT SUPPORTER.
APPLICATION FILED-NOV. 30, 1908.
Patented Nov. 23, 1909.
flwucnboz e/Ze/ flm m s Witnmoo UNITED STATES WILLIAM A. SEIBEL, OF MONTERA, WASHINGTON.
GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the town of Montera, in the county of King and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to devices of the above type and aims primarily to provide a construction which is simple, durable, eflicient in operation and capable of being manufactured at a comparatively low cost.
W'ith these objects in view, my invention resides in the structural features hereinafter described and succinctly defined in my an nexed claim.
Referring now to the accompanying drawing wherein a preferred form of my invention is illustrated, Figure l is a plan view of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an edge view, partly in longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 is a view in perspective illustrating an application of my invention.
My invention comprises an elongated body portion 1 formed with a large opening 2, the end portions of which taper and provide comparatively narrow openings 3 adapted for reception of the cloth of the garments, as will be more fully understood from the following.
While my invention may be otherwise formed, the same is preferably stamped from sheet metal and has its end portions, in which openings 3 are provided, offset, as shown in Fig. 2, whereby they are disposed on relatively opposite sides of the central portion of body portion 1. By this construction, a fold or ply of a garment can be engaged in open- A. SEIBEL, a
Specification of Letters Patent.

I ings 3 with case. In furtherance of this object, the side walls of openings 3, at their months, are cut away, as at a to provide beveled sides to said openings, which will per mit of the grasping of the cloth by the fin gers, in a very eflicient manner.
My invention can be employed for many purposes and I therefore do not wish myself to be understood as limiting the same in this respect by the application of the invention shown in Fig. 3. In said Fig. 3, 5 and 6 inclicate the upper and lower garments of an under suit, with each of which my device is engaged to prevent parting thereof.
The device is also useful as a sleeve holder, as will be readily understood.
Vhile I have in the foregoing described a construction which will carry out the various functions assigned thereto, I reserve the right 'to make such changes in the details of construction as fall within the scope of the appended clalm.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A garment supporter comprising a body having off-set end portions formed with elongated narrow openings, the walls of said openings at their inner end portions being beveled, said body being formed with a large central opening communicating with said first named openings.
Signed at Seattle, Washington this 23rd day of November 1908.
