Specification of Letters'Patent.
'Patented June 29, 1909.
ym'iiearion ined March 2,1908. serial No. 418,760.
-is@ a kami-n una, i, HUGO vergissen,
a citizen of the United States,- residiiigat West Hobpkeii, in the couiity'of Hudson and lState of Kew Jersey, have invented certain new' -and useful Iniprovenieiits ii`i- Safety Pockets;y and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptienfof the iii'-4 'ventiongucli as Willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to nia-lie and use the saine.
My invention relates to safety pockets, and particularly to personal wear treasure purses.
. The object ofthe inveiitionis to enable.
travelers to carry upon their persons vvalul be perfectly of their security. Heretofore, valuable stones and inone'ys of all characters have been car-- ried 'in divers ways, and aniongthese the practice ofiiiserting jewels and other valuable articles 4inthe stocking has been prevalent. This, while a very seei'ire .inode of carrying articles, entailed considera-ble t-inie l each is provided with snap or other fasteners aiidtrouble ii'i'gcttingat t-liein, and it is the f objeet'ot luy invention to avoid such dif- 1 culties and provide a device which is equally secure, and at thesa'ine time convenient and accessible. v
With this'andotl'ier objects in view, the inventionconsists of certain -novel features of construction, combination, and arrange lment of parts as will be inore fully described rig. 3.
Referring niore especially to the drawings; 1 represents a. bodyiprovided witliends taperii'ig from theiroii'tsideedges toward t-lie een# The bottojiii edge, 4, ils
-verse'spaced eyelets along tliejedges thereof,
ter, 'as at A2 and. 25.' preferably straight', while the top edge 5 is provided with a pair of separated flaps 6 and 7 the foriner extending over a considerable area and adapted to'close the bill or dociinient pocket 8, and` the latter adapted to cover the'cha'nge or jewel pocket QLQThe blank is folded upon the dottedline`10 e'x' tending thiougliits center, and sewed along the edges. its at 11 and '12, to close ,the ends. The flaps ,are folded upoiithe line 13, and
14, which coact with the lacing studs carried by the lower half of the blank. Eacliedge after being sewed'togetlier is provided with a pluralityof lacing eyeletsl 15, through which is passed the usual lacing cord 16, which is preferably elastic so as toV properly bind the article around the leg of the wearer between the linee and calf. It will be noticed in Fig. 3 that the edge is slightly tapered off so as to produce a longer bottoni edge, thereby inakingtlie'device, when applied, conform to the contour of the calf of the leg s'o as to insure-a )roper t and prevent it freni slipping down below the calf.
In practice, the device is laced around Athe leg between the linee and the calf, and the lacing' cord pulledrather iglitly to insure safety. The material-of which the device is inade is preferably of soineleather, such as chamois, which has afrietional surface; so
ing upon the inode ofapplication.
Froni the foregoing description,V t-a-len iii connection with the accompanying drawings.
that it will grip-the stocking' oigskin. depend-- the construction and operation of the invention4 will be readily understood Without requiriiig a iiiore extended egplanation.
Various changes in the forni, proportion, and the iiiinoi' details of construction iiiay be resorted to without departingfroni the principle or lsacrificing any of the advantages of the invent-ion as defined in the appended claiiii.
IIaving'tlius described niy invention and iii wnat iiiai'iiier the saine is to'be performed, what I claiin as new and desire tosecure by Letters Patent is:
A- 'safetypoi'fket constructed to' encircle the leg between.l the linee and the calf and `f coiiiiiirisiiig abody having a iocliet provided with' ii'ieans vfor lfclosing it, t ie ends of said pocket being inclined outwardly from the Atoptoward the bott-oni to adapt'it' to fit the leg vand prevent it vfrom slipping doi'vn below the. calf, said ends being provided with transand'laii elastic lacing cord passing through said eyelets.
