Be it known that l, ALEXANDER VVILsoN, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Blyth, in the county of Northiunberland, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Wrist Straps, (for which I have tiled application in England, Dec. ll, 1920,) of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to wrist straps, and has for its object to provide an improved construction. l
A wrist strap or support in accordance with my invention comprises a length of extensible material attached near one end to a length of non-extensible material provided with a fastening device, said length of eX- tensible material being adapted to be wound around the wrist of: the wearer and the length of non-extensible material then wound thereover and secured by the tastening device.
The accompanying drawings illustrate one construction of wrist strap in accordance with my invention. In thev drawings, Figure l is a plan view of the complete wrist strap, and Figure 2 is a central longitudinal section thereof. Figure 3 is a similar view to Fig. l oi the strip of extensible material and Figure l is a similar view to Figs. l and 3 ol2 the strip of nonextensible material.
Referring to the said drawings, the wrist strap therein illustrated comprises a length of strong elastic belting t of suitable length and width (say 83j inches long by 135 inches wide) with a cross piece of braid b stitched thereto as shown at c to form a loop. cl is a strip of strong non-extensible linen braid oi' greater length than the strip a and pret`- erably of less width (say 101VA inches long by l inch wide) provided with a small metal prong buckle e which is attached by forming a. loop g at one end of the strip cl. The non extensible strip Z is attached by stitching f to the extensible strip ct near the end thereof provided with the buckle e; said stitching 7 conveniently being the stitching which i'orms the loop g, the loose end of the strip i being slipped through the loop b. The wrist strap thus comprises a double strap formed by the two strips a, d secured to Specioation of Letters Patent.

In use, the inner elastic strip a is lirst 'wound around the wrist as tightly as may be desired after the manner of a bandage, and the outer non-extensible strip Z is then wound around the outside of the elastic strip a and secured by slipping its free end y' through the buckle so that the prongs of the buclrle pierce and securely hold the inner strip ain position and maintain it atthe desired tightness around the wrist. My improved wrist strap is capable of tting any wrist, and provides a firm support without the detects of a wholly elastic strap. `When fitted, the strap is immovable, and the nature of the elastic inner belt to which is added the increased support of the non-extensible outer belt gives to the wrist the necessary support without interfering with the circulation of the blood.
That I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is Vl. ln a wrist strap, the combination with a length oitV extensible material having a guide loop thereon, adjacent one end, of a length ot non-extensible material secured to the 'tace of the eXtensible material between the guide loop and the adjacent end of the extensible material and having its free end passing through the said loop and extending beyond the length of eXtensible material, and means for securing the said length of non-extensible material around the wearers wrist.
2. ln a wrist strap the combination with a length off extensible material having a guide loop thereon adjacent one end, of a length ont non-extensible material passing through said loop, and having one end thereoie secured to the extensible material adjacent one ol its ends and its opposite end extending beyond the length of extensible material, and means for securing the ends ot the non-extensible material around the wearers wrist.
