GUBVED COBDEZD-EDGE TAPE FOR-SHOES.
Application filed Kay 13, 1925. Serial No. 29,988.
A new t pe of rubber shoe is now on the market an is generally known as the Zipper rubber shoe takin its name from the distinctive type of sliding fastening which 5 closes the separated edges in .the shoe upper. This sliding clip or Zipper fastening has been secured to the upper by means ofa tape, but this tape has many disadvantages and it is the object of my invention to provide a tape especially adapted for this particular use and free from all objections.
My invention consists of a curved woven tape having a corded woven concave edge, said edge being adapted to be secured to the shoe fastener and withstand all incident usage and maintain its normal curvature 7 so that it may always adjust itself to the curvature of the instep.
In the drawin s: Figure 1 is a rent elevation of a portion of a shoe to which my invention is applied.
. Figure 2 is a plan view of the tapes embodying my invention.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 Figure-2.
The reference numeral 1 designates a rub-' ber shoe of a well known type having free edges 2, whereby the shoe upper may spread when the shoe is being placed upon or removed from the foot.
3. is a modern type of sliding fastener by means of which these edges are drawn snugly together to close and hold the shoe on the foot.
an eflicient means for securing these fasteners to the shoe and to the end I have produced tape 4 of good quality and woven The purpose of my invention is .to provide.
fastener secured to its corded edge and then secured to the shoe. lVhile I have referred to shoes it will be understood that my improved tape is adapted for securing the Zipper fastener to any other article of wearing apparel.
The manner. of securing the Zipper fastener elements to'the corded edge of my improved edge is optional with the manufacturer.
This concave corded edge gives an inherent set to the tape thereby the better adapting it to adjust itself to the instep.
What I claim is:
1. The combination with a shoe of a woven oppositely curved tape secured to the clo sure edges of the shoe upper, and having a woven tubular concave edge and a relatively large cord woven in said tubular edge.
I 2. An article having an opening bordered at opposite edges by woven oppositely curved fabric comprising supporting sections having thickened integrally woven edges and extending lengthwise of the opening, and a mechanical closing device slidable in a direction lengthwise of said edges.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
PAUL F. HEISSE.
