D SPLAY STAND.
To'aZZ who met. may concern:
Be it'known that I, EDWARD E. RANDALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Prides Crossing, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have inventednew and useful Improvements in Display Stands,
of which the following is'a specification.
This invention relates to display devices, particularly to portable stands for supportin objects to be exhibited, and has for its ,obJect the provision of a novel display stand adapted to hold apotted plant, for use by florists and others.
An additional object is the provision of a device of this character which will besimple and inexpensive in manufacture, highly efficient 1n use, durable 1n service and a general .With the above and other objects and advantages in view the 1nvention consists in the, details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in.
which,
Figure 1 IS a side elevation of my device adapted for use in displaying a potted plant,
Fi re 2 is a front elevation thereof, a portion of the stand being shown in section, w
Figure 3 is a plan view,
' Referring more partlcularly to the draw- I ings the numeral 10 designates vthe base of the device which may be formed as a casting and which includes a plurality of radially extending supporting feet 11 which are provided with holes 12 for the passage of securing screws or the like whereby the device maybe fastened down rigidly upon a suitable support, such as the floor or the like.
Either formed integrally upon-or'secured to the base 10 is an upwardly extending tubular support 13 into the upper portion of which is threaded a suitable set screw 14. I also make use of a support which is formed from a suitable length of rod, or
- heavy wire of suitable gage and this support includes. a vertically extending shank V "COmPHSIIIg' a base, a hollow support rismg 15 slidablyengaged within the support 13 and adapted to be heldinany desired adjustment by meansofthe 'set screw 14, Intermediate its ends, this supporting member is curved as indicated at 16 and has its upper end terminating in an eye 17.v The ot-holder proper is formed from a single ength of wire bent'into hoop shape as mdicated by the numeral 18 and provided at Specification of Letters Patent. e Application filed June 7;
necessarily be disposed in horizontal posi- I study of the drawingsit will be apparent that I have thus provided a novel display tion or the scope of the su joined'claims.
its ends with extensions '19. terminating in eyes 20 adapted to be disposed in straddling relation to the eye 17. This hoop member 18 is held associated with the remainder of the device bymeans of a bolt 21 which passes through the eye 20 and through the eye 17 and which carries a wing nut 22. It 1s of course understood that the hoop must be of substantially the same diameter as the diameter of the pot of the plant to be displayed and it is of'course -to beunderstood that I may employ a plurality of the hoops 18 which are interchangeable, the varlous hoops of the plurality being of varying dlameters whereby to support pots of dlfierent sizes depending upon the character of the plants to be displayed. It is of course to be understood that the hoop 18 need not tion as it is quite conceivable that by loosen mg the wing nut 22 the hoop. 18 may be inclinedwith res ect to its support so as to hold the potte plant in an inclinedpositioninstead of in a vertical position if preferred. I It will be obvious that the device'- ls'well adapted for use by florists and others having'potted plants'for sale.
Fromthe foregoing. description and a stand which isfformed with certain parts which are adapted for-supporting a potted plant or the like in a very attractive manner, it being intended that a plurality of interchangeable supports be provided whereby pots of different diameters may. be. adequately' supported. I
While I have shown and described the pres ferred embodiment of the invention, it is of course to be understood that I' reserve the right to make such changes in the form, construction and arrangement of parts. as will not depart from the-s irit of the inven-'= Having thus described my invention I claim:
*1. A'device of the character described therefrom, a set screw threade into sai support, a rod vertically adjustably disk posed within said support and adapted to be clamped in desired position by means of said set screw, an eye at the upper end of said supporting rod, a frameformed to conformingly -eng'a the articles to be displayed and provided with a pair of spaced Patented Feb. 14, 1922. 1921. Serial N0. 475,712.
eyes straddlingly engaged upon said first named eye, and a bolt passing through all of said eyes and carryinga clamping nut.
2. A device of the character described 5 comprising asupporting base, a tubular standard rising therefrom, a set screw threaded through said standard, a vertically adjustable rod slidably disposed Within said standard and adapted to be held in selected 10 position by said set screw, the upper portion of said supporting rod being curved and having its terminal formed with an eye, a hoop like frame of substantially circular form provided at its ends with extensions terminating in eyes straddlingly engaged 15 upon said first named eye, a clamping bolt passing through all of said eyes and a nut upon said bolt.
In testimon whereof I aflix my signature.
EDWA D ERNEST RANDALL.
