DISPLAY STAND- Application filed. December 5,1928 Serial No. 323,833.
This invention relates to display stands or supports for merchandise and the like having for its primary object to provide an adjustable stand, the height of which may be regulated and affording means for attach ing or suspending the articles to be displayed.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a display stand or support constructed and arranged to permit articles to .5: cc attached thereto at different positions without interference, one with the other, and atdiflerent heights so that the said articles or merchandise may be observed fro-m any one of four sides.
More specificially my invention relates to a display stand or support having a base and a series of frames on which the merchandise is display including means for adjustably spacing the frames whereby the stand or .1151 support may be utilized in a store window,
show case or on a. display counter.
A further specific object of my invention is to provide a display stand or support for merchandise having a series of frames connected to a lazy tong extension, the height of which may be adjusted to accommodate the particular location or use to which the stand or support is to be employed.
To enable others skilled in the art to more fully comprehend the underlying features of my invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification in which Fig- 1 is a front view, partly in section 35 showing my invention.
Fig. 2'is a top plan showing the frames.
Fig. 3 is a front view showing the stand in a second position.
Fig. 1 is a section taken on the line l -4 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a section taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings, 5 designates the feet or legs of a conventional type of solid base or support having a top shoulder 6 and a vertical central, bore or opening entirely or partially through the said base to receive a post 7 preferably formed integral with a flanged plate 8. The post is loosely positioned in the bore or opening of the base so that the super-structure of the stand or support may be rotated to any desired posi-' tion.
Attached to thesa'id plate 8 is a lazytong construction, certain of the links 9, lObeing pivoted as at 1-1 to the plate and the longer links 12, 13 having pins or studs slidable in horizontal slots 14', 1'5 of -said plate which limit theinovement of the lazy'tong construction in the extended position as shown by Fig. 1' andthe folded o-r col-lapsed condi tion-as shown by Fig. 3. The lazy tong con struction is of considerable height so that the device may be adjusted toaccommodate the particular position .or use to which. it is 65% to be employed. A stud and wing nut 16" passing through certain of the links 17, 1'8 substantially intermediate the top andbottom lazytong constructionafi'ords means for locking the same in any of its adjusted positions. i
The lazyl tongs-also carry a plurality of" superposed frameswhich-rnay be square, rectangular, circular or any other desired shape. In: the preferred form shown, the bottom 75 square shaped frame 1 9 is provided with av transverse cross bar or rocbQO, the ends 21 of which may. be riveteda'or otherwise perinanentlyfastened to the sides of the frame. The cross baror rod is also provided with transverse slots22 for the pivots or pins connectingcertain of; the links o-f'the lazy tong construction. The intermediate rectangular frame 523-is provided with a similar, slotted transversecrossbar 'or rod and preferably slightly smaller indi-mensions th anithe lower frame' T The top f rame fl l is in tu'rnlslightly:snialler than the intermediate frame 23 and the transverse cross rod or bar 25' is provided with 95 slots 26 for receiving-the pivots 27 of the links 28, 29, and the interconnected links 30, 31. In
order to permit the lazy tong construction to be extended from the position shown by Fig. 3 to that of Fig. 1 for instance or vice 55 versa. flat handle grip 32 is attached to the cross bar or rod of the top frame, which grip may: also be employed to attach 0122 support an article to i be displayed As a a: convenient means of attaching an article to the frames, the metal or mahandle connected to the cross bar of the top terial comprising said frames is struck out frame and springs connected to the sidesof as at 33 to provide hooks to which are con-- each of the frames for support ng a plurality nected the ends of an eXpansible spring. of objects or merchandlse for display.
While I have shown a single spring 3.4 attached in the above manner to each of the sides of the respective frames, it will be understood that this construction may be duplirated where it is desired to provide a plurality of similar springs for the same purpose. Furthermore, it will also beunderstood that the shape of the frames may alsobeyaried so as to provide a combination of rectan gular, square, octagonal, circular or other shape frames attached to the lazy tong construction in the manner above indicated. The use of springs and hooks for attaching the same is also shown and described by way of example and I do not wish to be limited or restricted to the specific manner in which the article may be attached or suspended for exhibition.
While I have shown and described my invention with somedegree of particularity, it will be realized that other modifications and changes may be resorted to under special con ditions. I therefore do not'wish to be limited and restricted to the exact details shown and described but reserve the right to make such changes and modifications as may fairly fall within the scope of the subject matter now being claimed.
Having shown and described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A support or stand comprising a base, a plate having a post carried by said support, a lazy tong structure connected to the plate, a series of superposed frames fastened to the lazy tong structure, said frames having means 7 for attaching a plurality of objects or merchandise for display.
2. A support or stand comprising a base, a slotted plate having a post carried by said support, a lazy tong structure pivoted to the plate, a series of superposed frames attached in spaced relation to the lazy tong structure, meansv for locking said structure in an'adjusted position and means attached to said frames for supporting a plurality of objects or merchandise for display.
3. A support or stand comprising a base, a slotted plate having a post rotatably supported by said base, a lazy tong structure pivoted to the plate, a series of superposed frames each having a slotted cross bar attached to said lazy tong structure, and resilient means carried by said frames for supporting a plurality of objects or merchandise for display.
4.:A support or stand comprising a base, a slotted plate having a post rotatably supported by saidbase, a lazy tong structure pivoted to theplate, a series of frames each havmg a slotted cross bar attached in vertical spaced relation to said lazy tong structure, a
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
