IMPROVEMENT IN HAMES-FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 140,475, dated July 1, 1873; application filed December 7, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ENooH COVERT, of Farmer Village, in the county of Senecav and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harnes- Fastenin gs and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in a metallic clasp, arranged so as to be fastened to hames with buckle and strap attached to the clasps to form a hame-fastenin g, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention'a-ppertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a perspective view, showingthe hames with myfastenin g attached; and Fig. 2 represents the fastening in enlarged dimensions.
A A represent the hames, fastened at their 'upper ends in any of the known and usual ways. B represents a leather strap, and O a buckle, in whichthe strap is to be fastened. To the outer end of the strap B is riveted or otherwise firmly attached a metallic clasp, D, consisting, simply, of a plate or bar having its outer end bent in hook-form, to be inserted and fastened in the lower end of one of the hames A. To the cross-bar of the buckle C is secured another similar clasp, D, to be fastened to the other hame, when, by connecting the strap and buckle, the hames can be easily adjusted.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The sheetnnetal hook D, attached to the cross-bar of the buckle O, in combination with the strap B having the sheet-metal hook 1) riveted to its end, all used as a hame fastener, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of November, 1872.
