UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT D. FOSTER, OF COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN PRESCRIPTION-FILES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 138,390, dated April 29, 1873; application filed March 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT D. FOSTER, of Council Bluffs, in the county of Pottawattomic and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Prescription-File; and do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompa nyin g drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a file for prescriptions, letters, bills, &c., as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing my file separated. Fig. 2 shows the under side of a part of the file; and Fig. 3 shows the file complete.
A and B represent two pieces of pasteboard of suitable thickness to have the required stiffness. These pieces are cut of any desired size, and to the under side of the piece A, near one end, is secured one end of a wire, 0, by means of an eyelet, a. This wire is then passed up through a hole, b, in the center at this end ofthe piece A. The projecting end of the wire 0 being pointed, the prescriptions are readily placed on the same; and when the desired number has accumulated thereon the piece B is placed on top, there being in the same a hole with an eyelet, cl, for the passage of the Wire. After this the end of the wire 0 is twisted down, as shown in Fig.3, and a rubber band, D, placed around the other end of the file.
This file may be used for letters, bills, and other papers, as well-as for prescriptions.
I Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The pasteboard piece A, provided with the wire 0 fastened to the same by an eyelet, a, and passing through the hole I), in combination with the piece B having eyelet-hole d, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of March, 1873.
ALBERT D. FOSTER.
