Be it known that I, MArHIAsBERRns, citizen of the United States, residing at Hamtramck, county of Wayne, State of certain new and useful Improvement in Combined Shoulder- Braces and Trousers-Supporters, and cleclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such aswill enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to a combined shoulder brace and trousers supporter, shown in the accompanying drawings and more particularly described in the following specification and claims. r
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a simple and effective adjustable shoulder brace adapted to support the trousers, which may be engaged thereto at the usual buttons on the waistband of the trousers being eliminated) by means adapted for adjustment to insure the proper hang of the trousers that they may present a smart, neat and trim appearance.
A further object of the invention is to provide for the adjustment of the device that it may be adapted for persons of varying waist measurements.
A further object is to provide for the adjustment of the strap comprising the shoulder brace whereby it may be adapted for men of diflerent stature.
A further object is to provide a device which will induce deep breathing, expand the chest, force the wearer to stand and sit erect and which will at the same time be comfortable to wear.
A further object is to provide a device which may be worn above or beneath the shirt as may be desired.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention further consists in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being under-v stood that changes may be made in the precise embodiment of the invention herein Specification of Letters Patent.

In the drawings forming part of this spec 1ficat1on:-
Figure '1 is a view showing the manner of adjusting the device beneath the armsof the wearer before connecting the ends of the strap or brace with the'trousers.
F 1g. 2 1s a similar view showing the shoulder brace in position and connected with the trousers.
Fig.3 is a perspective view of that por-.
tion of the sers.
Fig. l is a vertical cro'sssectional view through the ll-shaped element connecting the strap with the metallic trouser bands.

eferring now placed upon the drawings denotes a belt or strap of suitable length that it may pass across the back b:- neath the arms, thence in a forward and upward direction over the shoulders to the back of the wearer where it overlaps itself; the ends being fitted with means for attach ment to the trousers B.
C, C, indicate a pair of arc-shaped members adapted to overlap a portion of their length, formed with interlocking indentations or ribs C, U, for purpose of adjustment,-the parts being secured in their adj usted position by clips D, D, embracing the abutting portions of said members.
E, E, are inverted U-shaped elements detachably secured to the free end of the arcshaped members C, and to the waist band of the trousers by spring clips F, spaced from the ends of the elements E to admit between the same, the member C, and the waist band of the trousers. F, is a swinging lever arm, pivoted to lugs integral with the memberE, having an offset to force the spring clips F to impinge upon the trouser band so as to grip the latter and the arc-shaped members C. I erence letters it will beapparent that the to be detachably secured V of the device when properly adjusted as shown and described will serve to remind and will assist the wearer to secure an erect carriage,
to expand the chest, and in addition will support the trousers so that they may present a neat appearance at all times.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, a strap of suitable length to adapt it to cross the back of the wearer beneath the arms pass over each shoulder to the back and thence downwardly overlapping itself with its ends extending to the sides of thc'wearer adjacent to the trouser waist band, a pair of extensible overlapping metallic members adapted to the waist band trousers, means detachable and adjustably secured to said lastnamed members at each side of the wearer, and detachable means for securing the ends of said strap to the respective last named means.
2. In a device'of the character described, a strap adapted to extend horizontally across the back of the wearer, thence over the shoulders, overlapping itself upon the back of the wearer with its ends extending downwardly toward the sides of the wearer adjacent to the trouser waist band; a pair of arc-shaped co -acting, metallic members adapted to overlap each other, the overlapping portions indented to interlock; means for securing said members together when in terlocked; a pair of inverted U-shaped members provided with projecting studs adapted to enter any of a plurality of holes in the free ends of the arc-shaped members, whereby the U-shaped members may be adjusted laterally with reference to the arc-shaped members; spring clips carried by the U- shaped members adapted to grip the trouserband to the arc-shaped members; and detachable means for connecting the U-shaped members to the ends of the strap.
In testimony whereof, I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
