RECORD-ALBUM; Q
[Spe fication of L tt r re t Batente-d Nov. 23,1920.
"L ama-antenna January 2, ieac jiseiig 'ntl 348,749;
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MELVIN BRmeMArI, a citizen of Great Britain, residing at Flint, in the county of Genesee and State of M1ch1- gan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Record-Albums; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the lnvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and usethe same. 7
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in record albums for talking machines and has for its primary object the provision of a plurality of leaves ,between which are received a record so that each record is protected and prevented from contacting with each other, thus obviating the danger of the records becoming scratched or injured when removing and replaci'ngthem and further the device will fit convenlently within a cabinet of the talking machine and will permit any one of the'records to be removed without having to remove the device in entirety.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a record album of the above stated character, which shall be simple, durable and efiicient and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, com bination, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which v Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view of a talking machine cabinet illustrating a record album positioned therein and constructed in accordance with my invention, and also showing a record in dotted lines,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the album removed from the cabinet,
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the same illustrating records therein.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates as an entirety an album consisting of a plurality of leaves 2 which have binding strips 3 at one end and the between the leaves.
leaves at this end of the album are secured together by means of'lacing strings' passing through openings 5 in the leaves and binding strips3, thus it will be seen that the leaves are firmly held together and said leaves are preferably'constructed of cardboard or similar material which will permit the leaves to be flexed for the purpose of separatin them to insert and remove a record. ositioned between each leaf is arecord and each leaf at its free end is pro vided with spaced notches 6 that expose positions of the record whereby any one of the records can be gripped and drawn from The notches 6 also de- .70 fine tongues 7 that project beyond the free ends of said-leaves, so that said tongues can i be readily gripped for raising the leaves and V -the tongues 7 are adapted to bear the names of the records so that on examining the tongues a certain record can be conveniently found, and when found can be easily withdrawn from the album by gripping the ex- 7 Y posed portion of therespective record. The names of the various records are adapted to be applied to labelspasted or otherwise secured to the tongues and which labels can be changed and replaced by others on the tongues when the records are changed within the album.
The album 1 is positioned flatly upon the shelf 8 of a talking machine cabinet 9 and the shelf 8 is provided with the usual cutout portion 10 which permits the tongues and notches to be disposed beyond the shelf so that said tongues can be conveniently flexed for examining the title thereon and also will permit the records to be easily withdrawn from their places in the album.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination, and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of theinvention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is v 1. An album comprising a plurality of leaves adapted to contain records between v the same, means securing one of the ends of the leaves together, the other ends of said leaves having spaced notches to expose portions of the record and to define a tongue adapted to bear the names of the record.
2 An album comprising a series of leaves readily separated or flexed to examine the 10 constructed from flexible material, means names or title thereon." securing the leaves together, said leaves at In testimony whereof I affix my signature their free ends having spaced notches to'exin presenceof two Witnesses.
pose portions of records positioned between V i 7 said leaves, and to define tongues adapted to MELVIN BRIDGMAN' j bear names of the: various records, said Witnesst-as: tongues projecting beyond the line of the WM. E. BA RETT,
free edges of the leave s'so that they can be G. A. KELLY.
