To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, BENJAMIN E. D. ilrarronn and ETHAN I. Donne, citizens of the United States, and-residents of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of .iennsylvania, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Staybolt tructurcs; and we do hereby declare the following to be a ifull clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention. relates to improvements in staybolt structures for boilers,-one object of the invention being to provide a mounting for the headed end of the staybolt at the outer boiler sheet, which shall be universally adjustable to insure accurate alinement of the staybolt with its points of connection with the rear ective boiler sheets, and which shall be adaptable for staybolts having heads which are smaller than the heads oi. a majority of the staybolts used in some boilers.
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features oi. construction and combinations ct parts as he einafter set forth and pointed. out in the claim.

T he outer boiler sheet is provided with an opening 3, a portion of the wall of which is curved or rounded transversely of the sheet, to afford a rounded seat 4 on which a bearing sleeve or member 5 has a universally movable or adjustable mounting. The outer end portion of the bearing sleeve may be made substantially cylindrical in form but its inner end portion which enters the opening in the l or sheet is rounded, presenting an outer rounded face 6 mounted on the rounded wall at of said opening, and an interior rounded seat 7.

It will be understood that supplemental bearing members of different thicknesses may be provided and made interchangeable to accommodate the particular size Tl. bolt head which may be employed.
After the bearing sleeve 5 shall have been properly adjusted to insure accurate alinement of the sta'ybolt'with its points of con nection with the respective boiler sheets, said sleeve will be intimately united to the bo ler sheet by means of a weld 12.
The bearing sleeve or member 5 is threaded interiorly and receives a threaded hollow plur or closure 12 having an angular portion 13 to receive a wrench. Between the inner end of the plug or closure 12 and a shoulder 14 in the bearing sleeve, a gasket 15 may be disposed.
