Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 134,912, dated January 14, 1873.
To all Awhom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, N. B. MGCREARY, of Phelps City, in the county of Atchison and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Grocers SampleGase, of which the following is a specification:

This invention relates to a new box or case to be used by grocers and others for containing and displaying spices and other goods and the prices of the same, and for protecting the contents against injury from atmospheric iniiuences, insects, Src.V The invention con- Sists in providing the box with a sliding glass top, through which the contents can be inserted, removed, and inspected, and in con1- bining it with a shield or plate placed near one end for indicating the price of the contents.
In the drawing, the letter A represents a box or case made of suitable material, size, and shape. B is a glass cover or top for the same. This cover is slid into its place and held in the grooved sides of the box. It can be withdrawn by pulling it toward one end of the box. At this end, however, the top can be locked by a slide or catch, a, which is shown in Fig. 2. The goods contained in the box will be fullyprotected by the glass, and at the same time displayed to view. O is an inclined plate placed cver'the box and provided with projecting arms b that straddle the box and enter sockets d which are formed at the sides thereof. The rods b can be Withdrawn from the sockets so that the plate C can be laid over on the box during transportation, &c. l
The price of the contents marked upon a card which is held to the face of the plate C, and other remarks pertaining to the contents of the box, can be displayed in said plate C.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Iletters Patent- The combination of the box A. glass top B, and inclined plate C with each other, substantially as herein shown and described.
