Be it known that I, (Miss) ETHEL Snnannn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Saline, in the county of Saline and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dress- :Shield Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to dress shields and an important object is to provide a means whereby the shields may be held in a desired position upon the wearer without necessitating their being sewed or stitched to the dress as is the present day general practice.

A further object of the invention is to provide a means for retaining the shields in correct position which will not hinder gr hamper the freedom of movement of the ody.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings, forming a part of the specification and wherein like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred form of my invention, the numeral 5 indicates a waist band having its ends detachably secured together by means of a separable fastener 6, which fastener may be inthe form of a button, buckle or clasp, as desired. The waist-band 5 is intended to encircle the waist of the wearer and is preferably formed from a non-elastic material such as tape or the like and is provided with diametrically opposed tabs 7 having eyelets 8 to which are secured retaining tapes 9 preferably formed of suitable elastic ma terial. The tapes 9 are detachably secured by means of separable closures as indicated by the numeral 10 as a whole to the lower half of the shield 11 as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The tapes 9 together with the waistband 5 tend to retain the lower Specification of Letters Patent.

half ofthe shield in close contact with the body of the wearer as is apparent and because of their elasticity freedom of movement of the body is permitted.

To the shield substinitially intermediate its ends there is secured a bask-band 12 formed from a suitable elastic material and to one of the shields there is secured a similar front-band 13 which is connected to the other shield by a separable fastener as shown at 14. To the upper half of each shield there is detachably secured, by means of a separable fastener as shown at'15, an arm band 16 adapted to encircle the upper portion of the wearers arm as clearly shown in Fig. 1. To each of the shields substantially intermediate the ends thereof there is secured a shoulder-band 17 The shoulderband 17 and the arm band 16 are preferably formed of suitable elastic material and serve to retain the upper half of the shield in close contactwith the wearers body as is apparent from Fig. 1.

To apply the device the waist-band 5 and front-band 13 are separated by means of separable fasteners as shown at 6 and 14 respectively and the arms are inserted through the arm-bands 16 and the shoulderbands 17. When the shields are in correct position the waist-band and front-band may be fastened by means of their respective fasteners as shown at 6 and 14-.

Should it for any reason he desired to omit the waist-band and the tapes 9, it is only necessary to detach the taoes from the shields 11, and furthermore, should it be desired to employ only the back-band 12 and the frontband 13 together with the shoulder-bands 17 the arm-bands 16 may be separated from the shields 11, employing only those elements shown in Fig. 3. Since the various elements indicated by the

5, 9 and 16 are separable it is apparent that any one of these elements may be omitted in use should their omission be found desirable because of the particular style of dress worn at the time of using the shield.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure and protect by Letters Patent of the United States, is: 7 v

A dress protector comprising a pair of shields, a waist-band, tabs secured to said waist-band;eyelets carried by said tabs, a pair of elastic tapes secured to each of SiLlCl eyelets, means carried at the ends of said tapes for detachably securing the'same to the dress shields for retaining a half of the shields flat and in contact withthe body of the wearer, elastic shoulder ban'ds adaptedto be detachably secured to the dress shields midway intermediate the ends thereof, elastic arm-bands adapted to be detachably secured; toone end of the shield whereby the one half of said shields are retained .in' contact with the arms of the 'wearer, a front-band and back-band adapt- .ed to encircle the body of the wearer for retaining the dress shields in close contact with the bodyof the wearer, said frontband and back-band being secured to said shields.
