' STATES PATENT orrios. T
ALIBEREldKT. DESHANE, OF GOSMOPOLIS, WASHINGTON.
TIE-HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT W. DEsHANE, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Cosmopolis, in the county of Grays Harbor and State of Washington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to a novel construction of tie holder, mainly designed for holding bow ties, and the principal obj ect of the invention is to provide means for holding the tie in correct shape and to secure the tie to the collar button. I
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efiicient in operation and'one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
The invention "also .consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described,
illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims. In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying.
drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a view of the invention in use on a tie.
Fig. 2 is a view of one form of the device.
Fig. 3 is a view of another form.
Fig. 4 is a section on line 44 of Fig. 3.
Fig. ,5 is a view of still another form;
Fig. 6 is a View of another form.
Fig. 7 is a section on line 7-7 of Fig. 6.
Fig. 8 is a section on line 8-8 of Fig. 2.
Referring to Figs'l, 2 and 8 of the drawing it will be seen that the device is made from a single piece of wire or the like and said wire is bent to produce a central open spring loop 1 and the side wings 2. The loop 1 is a substantially U shape and after forming the legs of the U the wire is looped back to about midway the ends of said legs and is then bent at right angles and carried a short distance to provide stems.
3 which are parallel with the base of the U. The wire is then bent into substantially W shape and the free ends brought back as and suitably connected'with the stems. I
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 10, 1919. Serial No. 270,549.
sometimes find it desirable to form a second U shaped member 4 which extends at rlght angles to the loop 1 and has its cross piece or base soldered or otherwise secured to the cross piece of the loop. The front part of this member 4 me be provided with a jewel 5 at its end whi e the rear portion is provided with a loop of substantially W shapeto engage the collar button.
As shown in Fig. 1 the parts of the tie forming the wings of the bow are provided with holes. The central loops 6 of the W shape wings 2 of the device may carry the jewels 7 which are placed on studs 8 slidinglyengaging the loops and these studs and jewels are passed through the button holes to fasten the win s of the tie to the wings of the device. These studs may be of the type used in shirt fronts. The member 4 bridges the knot of the tie with the jewel 5 in front of the knot with its rear part engaging the collar button. 1 engages a part of the knot with the wings in rear of the wings of the tie.
. In the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4 the The loop 4 stems 3' are secured to the sides of the loop 1 and are of greater length than-the stems shown in.Figs. 1 and 2. The ends- In the form shown in Figs. 6 and 7 thecentral part 1 is formed of the inner loop 10 and the outer loops 11 and the wire at the lower parts of said inner loop 10 is bent to place this inner loop 10 to one side of the longitudinal plane of the device. In other words this inner loop is opposite from the loops 11 as shown in Fig. 7 so that the three loops form a hook. Thls hook is adapted to receive a part of the knot of the tie and the inner loop 10 is adapted to receive the collar button.
All of the different forms may be proyided with the jewels or said jewels may be will be held in extended position by said device and the tie will also be prevented from riding on the collar.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and, in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim as my 1nvent1on:-
1. A device of the class described comprising a central loop part, wings connected therewith and stud receiving loops on said Wings.
2. A device of the class described comprising a central loop part having tie and button engaging parts wings connected with the central part and stud receiving loops on said Wings.
3. In combination with-a tie having holes 7 therein, a member comprising a central part and side Wings, means carried by the central part for engaging the tie-and the collar button and studs onthe Wings for engaging the holes.
In testimony whereof I af'fix my signature.
ALBERT W. DESHANE.
