JOHN T. CLARK, OF PROVO, UTAH.
' NECKTIE HOLDER.
Application filed December 27, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jenn T. CLARK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Provo, in the county of Utah and State of Utah have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie Holders, of which the tollmving is a specification.
My invention relates to neck tie holders, and has for its object to provide a simple and economical device on which a. neck tie of the four-jindiand type may be knotted and by which said tie maybe fastened in place and adjusted in :1 turned down collar the said collar is worn.
These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, and as described in the specification tt'orming a part of'this application and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings in which I have shown a substantial embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is a plan view of the device. Figure 2 is a plan view ofthe device with a tie Figure 3 is an edge View of the device, moved.
In order to avoid knotting the tie in the collar each time it is worn I have invented a tie holder consisting of a. piece of spring wire bent medially of its length to form an elongated or V-shaped loop with a portion A in the plane of the medial portions of the device and spaced apart to engage thev shank of a collar button. The other or end portion of the said loop is bent forwardly and inclined downwardly to engage the end of the collar button and is extended beyond the collar button to form the disengaging lug or loop B. A sheave loop C is formed in each of the free end portions of said wire and an eye loop D is provided on each end of the wire. Between the loops C and D on each end portion of said wire a curve E is formed and the said curved portion E and the loops D are twisted or bent towards the rear in order that the plane of that portion is at with the flexible cord re- Serial No. 524,840.
31 angle to the, general plane of the loops device. A flexible cord F is secured at its ends to the said, eye loops D and passed through the said sheaveloops C; if it is so desired a lighter'cord F maybe used and as shown in the drawings the cord is passed through the eyeloops D and two leads of cord are used with the'knot'G or other fastening means uniting the two ends of the cord between the sheave loops C. The'tie is to be knotted on the reach of cord between the said sheave loops C over the button 5 of the device.- The portions -from the loops U outwardly are inserted under the lapels of the collar and the button loop A is pushed upwardly, by placing the end of the thumb against the lower end of the loop B; until the device is in place on the button. The tension of the wings of the device especially the curves'E will draw the tie knot snugly within the. end portions of the collarand when in use no portion of the device can be seen, while the tie is held in place similar to the same type of ties wherein the knot isformed each time the tie is worn. Y Having thus described mv invention I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim A neck tie holder comprising a piece of spring wire having a button engaging loop medially therein and with the sides of said loop spaced apart toengage the shank of a collar button. the end portion'ot said loop extended and bent forwardly and inclined downwardlyfa side loop in each free end of said wire, an eye loop on each end ot said wire, a curve formed in each end portion of said wire between each of said side loops and the respective eye loops, and 'a flexible cord passed through each of said side loops and engaging the eye loops and on which a neck tie is to be knotted.
In testimony signature.
