A guard including a body. portion adapted for engagement with a window sash, the medial portion of one longitudinal edge of the body being provided with a recess adapted to accommodate the sash bar of a window sash, a closure pivotally secured at one conner to the body adjacent the inner terminal of the recess and having the adjacent corner cut away and adapted to swing across the recess to accommodate the sash bar, the longitudinal edge of the closure being bent upwardly to provide a finger grip and the pivotal axis of the closure being so arranged as to cause the dge of the cut away portion to engage the sash bar, and adjustable extensions mounted on the terminals of the body portion.
