and to the letters and figures of reference marl-Zed thereon, which form a part of this speciii .tion,
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in sanitary pad covers for mattresses, and comprises a simple and cfficient device of this character, whereby mattresses may be protected from soil and consists in the provision of a washable quilting arranged with pocket flaps upon its under surface adapted for the reception of a sheet of waterproof material which prevents any soil coming in contact with the mattress beneath.
The invention comprises a simple and efficient device of this character which will be hereinafter'fully described and their specifically defined in the appended claims.
The invention is companying drawings, which, with,the letters of reference marked thereon form a part of this application, and in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the padas applied to a'mattress.
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view same.
Fig. 3 is a view of the under face. of the pad, illustrating the pocket flaps, and
Fig. 1 is a detail view of the waterproof sheet adapted to be held in the pockets of the pad.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a spread of quilting of any suitable material designed to be washable, and has flaps B about its edges, with notches C at the corners, to permit the cover to be conveniently folded and fastened by any suitable means to a mattress as by safety pins as illustrated. The under surface of said. cover spread is through for Matillustrated in the ac its edges and means provided with flaps E forming pockets to receive the marginal edges of a sheet F of rubber or other material. Fasteners consisting of socket members H are secured to the inner faces of said flaps forming the pockets, and are designed to engage the lugs I'vhich are secured to the rubber sheet F, and which form a convenient means whereby the sheet of rubber or other material may be held in place within the pockets.
From the foregoing it will be noted that by the provision of a sanitary spread for use in hospitals, and other places, a simpie and. eflicient device is provided which may be easily and quickly applied to a mattress, and fastened thereto in the manner shown and described, the covering being preferably of a washable quilting, and by the provision of the removable sheet of rubber or other suitable waterproof material, the mattress may be thoroughly protected from any soil incident to its use with invalids;
What we claim to be new is:
