BOILER.

To all whom t may concern Be it known that l, JOHN Zuckowski, a citizen of Poland, residing at lhitkow, in the Frovince of Saskatchewan and Dominion oit' Canada, have invented certain new and usetul Improvements in Boilers, of which the following is a specication.

T he primary obj ect of the invention is the provision of a boiler for clothing and other articles in which the contents is given proper attention without burning the hands of the operator.

A further object of the invention is to provide a boiler with adjustable supporting means for the contents of the boiler whereby Jdie contents may be mounted at a desired height within or removed from the boiler at will without the necessity of engaging the hands of the operator with the heated contents.

lVith these General objects in view the invention consists of the novel combination, and construction of parts hereinafter fully described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

In the drawings like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view through a boiler provided with my invention,

My invention being especially designed for clothes or wash boilers, the same is herein illustrated in connection with the usual form of boiler- 10 having a bottom 11, and handles 12 at the opposite ends thereof. An oval-shaped support or tray 13 preferably formed of perforated sheet metal is adjustably provided within the boiler 10 having a chain 111', connected thereto adjacent its Specification of Letters Patent.

opposite ends whereby the tray is readily elevated and lowered in the boiler.

A plurality of brackets or holders 1li are hinged in spaced lugs 15 within the opposite ends of the boiler 10 and in spaced relations and in corresponding horizontal planes at the opposite ends of the boiler. The brackets 14 are readily swung upwardly on their pivots 1S by means oit connecting rods 1.7, hinged within slots 13 at the free edge of each bracket, the upper ends of the rods 17 extending adjacent the rim or mouth 19 of the boiler for easily elevating and lowering the brackets 14 at will.

The brackets however are'prevented from swinging downwardly beneath a horizontal plane by means of depending feet 2O at the outer ends of the bracket coming in Contact with the sides of thc boiler 10, the said feet being suitably spaced apart providing an opening 21 therebetween 'for the reception of the adjacent rods 17 when the brackets are elevated in their inoperative positions, as illustrated inFig. l1 et the drawings. The tray 13 has a notch 22 at each end tor permitting the tray to pass by the brackets 14 when the latter are folded, an inwardly extending portion 23 of each notch accomdating the rods 17 when the brackets 14 are positioned horizontally with the tray 13 resting upon the brackets at the opposite ends of the device.

The operation of the invention will be apparent, the tray 13 being mounted upon the uppermost brackets 14 as illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawings when it is desired to place the articles within or remove the same from the boiler 10, while upon elevating the tray by means of the chains 111 the rods 17 are pulled upwardly for folding the brackets 14 and permitting the tray 13 to be lowered for seating upon the intermediately positioned brackets 14 as illustrated by dotted lines in Fig. 1 of the drawings or upon the lowermost brackets adjacent the boiler bottom 11 as shown by Jfull lines in Fig. 1. A depending flange 24 may be provided for the tray 13 'for resting upon the bottom 11 when the tray is lowered. With articles such as boiling clothes, upon the tray 13, in its lowered position, it will be seen that the tray with the articles thereon may be readily elevated either to the intermediate or upper pair of brackets 1d, while the tray and the clothes may be lifted entirely out of the boiler 10 without employing the hands of the oper- Sil CII

ator for touching the heated articles and also doing away with the clothes pole sometimes employed. j

Hooks 25 upon the ends of the boiler 10 adjacent the upper ends of the rods 17 are adapted to receive the chains 14 adjustable thereon in a position to be Ireadily grasped 'for elevating the tray 13 when desired.

A serviceable household article is provided that is capable of dilerent uses, where it is desirable to handle boiling articles easily and quickly. lVhile the form of the invention herein set forth is believed to be preferable, minor changes may be `made without departing from the spirit and scope ot the invention as claimed.

TWhat I claim as new is Y lfln a boiler, hinged brackets at the opposite ends of the boiler arranged in pairs at different levels therein, operating means for the brackets, a perforated tray within the boiler adapted for selective positioning upon said pairs of brackets and elevating means for the tray.

In combination with a boiler, pairs of brackets hinged within the opposite ends of the boiler at different elevations and being provided with slots in their free ends, upright rods pivoted to the brackets within said slots, feet upon the brackets adapted for preventing tilting of the brackets below a horizontal plane, a perforated tray adapted to be selectively seated on dii'erent pairs of brackets and having notches at its opposite ends adapted 'for clearance of the brackets during the lowering and elevating movement of the tray and lifting means attached to the tray.

3; A device of the class described comprising a boiler, vertically alined hinged supporting brackets at the opposite ends of the boiler, a tray removably vsupported on horizontally alined ones of said brackets, means tor simultaneously shifting the brackets out of supporting relation with the tray and elevating means for the tray.v

4. In combination with a boiler, inwardly projecting hinged brackets in corresponding planes at opposite ends of the boiler, a tray removable from the boiler adapted for seating upon corresponding brackets, said tray being constructed for permitting the same to pass said brackets when the brackets are in one position and means at each end of the boiler for simultaneously shifting the brackets.

In combination with a boiler, brackets hinged within the opposite endsthereof, at different elevations from the bottom o1' the boiler and provided with slots in their iree ends, operating rods pivoted to the brackets through said slots, depending feet upon the brackets adapted for horizontally supporting the brackets and spaced ap art Jfor accom- -modating said rods when the brackets are in their upper folded positions, and a tray within the boiler having end notches adapted for accommodating said rods and brackots during the elevating and lowering ot the tray.
