Be it known that T, WALTER *OJCZYK, a subject of the Government of Poland, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of @hio, have invented certain new and useful lmprovernents in Shade and Curtain Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in shade and curtain hangers and has for its principal object to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient device which, after being primarily secured to the window casing will permit of suiiicient adjustment whereby hades of varying lengths may be supported therefrom. The fact that the device does t have to be removed from the casing after once being secured in place will prevent t .rring of the casing by unsightly nail anu screw holes.
Further objects the invention include or positively lockprovision of means 'ng the shade supports the proper adjustment has been determined, and the inclusion of supporting means for curtain poles.
With the foregoing objects in view the invention consists of the novel features, construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the ac companying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim; it being understood that v. :ious changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claim, may be re sorter to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the inve tion.

The invention comprises a housing 1 provided at its top and bottom with apertured cars 2 by means of which the housing is secured to the casing with screws 4. The housing is so formed to provide a tapered pocket 5 which is of greater area at its base than at its top and within which is placed the mechanism hereinafter described.

The housing 1 supports a shade bracket which is slidably mounted in slots in the side walls 6 of the housing, said bracket having one end thereof bent at a right angle to provide an angular supporting arm 7 provided with an aperture 8 for the reception of the pintle of the shade. This supporting bracket is further provided along the top of that portion which is confined within the housing 1, with a plurality of notches 9 for a purpose to be hereinafter described.
A button 10 placed within a bore in the front wall of the housing 1 bears against a spring detent 12 which has one end thereof riveted to the housing as shown at 13, the other end 1% of said spring being so formed as normally engage one of the notches 9. Thus by pressure upon. the button 10 the one. 14: of the spring is forced from its engagement with the notches 9 permitting the bracket be moved longitudinally until the proper adjustment has been obtained.

The free ends of the wire are bent at right angles to themselves at 17 and these ends are placed within apertures 18 formed in the front wall of the housing in the manner shown. This construction prevents the bracket from becoming ac identally displaced and rigidly secures the same in place.
I claim:
A. shade holder comprising a hollow housing having slots in the opposite side walls thereof, a bracket slidable crosswise of the housing, through said slots, the bracket having notches, a spring detent fixed at one end to the wall of the housing and engageable at the other end in any one of said notches, and a push button working through an opening in the front wall of the housing and bearingagainst the detent to disengage the same from the bracket.
