AUNITE S ATS WINDOW-FIXTURE.
roaaeee.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH O. RICHARD, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVindow-Fixtures, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to window iixtures and pertains more particularly to means for supporting curtains and shades.
The object of my invention is to provide a combination xture upon which may be supported a curtain and a shade, the curtain fixture being extensible outwardly and the shade fixture longitudinally.
A further object is to provide a fixture which shall be foldable or separable into two parts for shipping in a small space, and means for holding the same in operable p0- sition when in use.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the fixture. Fig. 2 is a cross section on line 1 1, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross section on line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. et is a cross section on line 3 3, Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a cross section on line 4 4, Fig. l.
1 is a base plate having the lugs Q projecting therefrom. These lugs are provided with apertures 3 for the reception of projections 11 upon the arms 5 and 6 rI`he body piece of the curtain fixture is a substantially fiat piece of metal having the cylindrical apertures 7- and 8 longitudinally therethrough for the reception of the bolts Q and 10 The cylindrical aperture 8- has a portion thereof cut away to allow the insertion of a nut 11 upon bolt 10 by means of which the curtain holder is extended longitudinally and the movement thereof is positively controlled. The bolts Q and 10 terminate in a single rod 12 bent to form a hook for the reception of a curtain pole. The base plate 1 is also provided with a channel l3 formed by the two parallel plates M and l5 immovably attached to the base and having lateral extensions l6 and 17- thereon. In this channel is a plate 18 having upwardly extending arms l9 and 20 the arm 19- being of greater length than 20- and having a slot in its outer Specification of Letters Patent.

end adapted to receive the end of a shade roller. The arm 20 has an aperture therethrough into which projects the bolt 2l to which it is immovably attached. The base 1 is also provided with two upwardly extending lugs 22 and 23 having alining apertures 24tand 25 therethrough for the passage of bolt 21 Between these lugs 22 and 23 and on the thread bolt 21 is placed a nut 26 It is readily apparent that by turning the nut, the part 20 will be either forced away or drawn toward lug 23 carrying along with it plate l8 and arm l9 thus extending or shortening the distance between the respective shade receiving port-ions 19 on either side of the window. One of the lugs -2 is provided with a second aperture 27 adapted to receive a second projection 28 on the arm 5 for holding the curtain plate 29 in upright position when in use.
`What I clain is:
1. A window fixture comprising a base, an upright pivotally mounted thereon, substantially parallel conduits extending longitudinally in said upright and a curtain retaining member having substantially parallel extending arms adapted to enter the conduits in the upright and means for ad- `iusting the curtain retaining member longitudinally with respect to the upright.
2. A window fixture comprising an upright pivotally mounted upon a base, a conduit extending longitudinally in said upright, a threaded rod provided with means for retaining a curtain pole slidably mounted in said conduit, said upright provided with a lateral opening extending through the conduit and a nut seated in said opening and operably positioned on the threaded rod.
3. A window fixture comprising an upright mounted upon a base, a conduit extending longitudinally in said upright, said upright provided with a lateral opening extending through the conduit, a threaded rod provided with means for retaining a curtain pole mounted in said opening, and a nut seated in said opening and operably positioned on the threaded rod.
