are
YATES EDWARD E. DEETZ, OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS.
MOUNTING DEVICE FOR SHADE FIXTURES.
Application filed March 31, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD E. Dnn'rz, a citizen of the United States, residing at ,Decatur, in the county of Macon and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Mounting Devices for Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mounting device for shade fixtures, and the object is to provide an element or plurality of elements, which may be permanently mounted on a Window frame, and which may be suitably finished to conform to the finish of the woodworlg said elements being adapted to receive thecommercial type of shade fixtures without independent attaching devices of any character.
A further object is to provide an element, or elements of sheet metal, and formed in a single piece, each element comprising a base plate, and inwardly turned flanges, the flanges having formed on the inner side thereof resilient elements for intimately en gaging the base plate of the commercial type of shade fixture.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of elements described and claimed. it being understood that modifications may be made within the scope of the clain, without departing from the spirit of invention.
In the drawings, Figure l is a view in front elevation, showing a shade and the mounting devices therefor; Figure 2 is a front elevation of one of the mounting and guiding elements, for adjustably receiving a shade fixture of standard type: Figure 3 is a section transversely of the longitudinal axis of the guiding device. and vertically of the construction shown in Figure 2.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a pair of mounting devices, of a length adapted for window frame of average dimensions, it being understood that these Serial No. 548,437.
devices may be made in several standard sizes.
Each fixture mounting element comprises a main flat portion 10, provided with apertures near the ends thereof for permitting of the insertion of small nails, screws or other securing devices.
Formed on element 10 are upper and lower flanges 11 and 12, inwardly turned, and bent into position approximately parallel with the element 10. These flanges are so positioned and proportioned that they will engage the upper and lower ends 14 and 15 of the base 16 of the commercial shade fixtures.
Each flange has formed thereon an inwardly turned portion 17 or 18 as the case may be, these portions last named serving to come into intimate contact with the afore said portions of the shade fixtures, and to firmly grip the latter, for holding the fixtures in position at the same time permitting slidable movement. t ereby affording means for adjustment. I
In changing the shade or the like to be mounted in the standard commercial fixtures, from one window to another, in the event that the size or the window fran evaries somewhat it is only necessary to id just the fixtures in the holders in the main ner specified.
Having thus described the invention. I claim:
A device of the class described, comprising a base plate, flanges spaced apart and extending along the edge portions of the platev and inwardly turned toward each. other. the inner edge of each flan e being folded over to form a resilient fixture engaging device, substantially parallel with the base, and a one-piece shade fixture ineluding a flat and straight base portion 0;"; a single thickness of metal, for engagement by said resilient members.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
EDWARD E. DEE-TZ.
