ENVELOP-SEALER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 9, 1920.
Application led November 23, 1918. Serial No. 263,918.
To cZZ whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, MARY A. K. HEN- Dmonson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Loup City, in the county of Sherman and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Envelop-Sealers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention rela-tes .to devices for facilitating the sealing of envelops and the principal object of the invention is to provide means whereby the adhesive on the ap may he inoistened and means for pressing the moistened flap on the envelop.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts,to loe hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing ymy invention in detail, reference will he had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in whichz* y Figure 1 is a top view of the device,
Fig. 2 isv a side view.
In these views l indicates the handle and a wire coil secured to said handle and supporting a roller 3. I prefer to make the coil from two pieces of non-rusting wire, one
end of Veach wire passing into the handle as at fland the other end, after leaving the coil, being extended and lient at right angles to forni a hearing for the roller. As shown, the ends l are placed side by side to form a stiif stem for connecting the handle to the coil. The coils extend at rightangles, in opposite directions, from the stem and the said coils have their convolutions of gradu ally7 increasing diameters from the ste1noutwardly. The ends of the wires leave thc coils on the same side so that the roller and handle are substantially in the same plane.V -On the other side of the coils located a is saturated with water and then the ad-.
hesive on the flap. is moistened therefrom, the flap turned over and then the roller run over the liap to firmly stick the adhesive to the envelop. y
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will yloe readily apparent.
I desire it to he understood that l may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention, what is claimed is y A device of the class described comprising a handle, a coiled spring formed of two pieces of wire having their inner ends brought together and extending parallel and engaging the handle, the outer ends of the wire extending in an Vopposite* direction from the other ends and having their extreme ends bent at right angle to form journals, al roller having holes in its ends for receiving saidjournals, said ends leaving the Cil coils at the same side a soonve secured to the opposite side of the coil, and a wire passing through the sponge and connected with the coils for holdingthe sponge to said coils. f
In testimony whereof I aflixmy signature.
MARY A. K. HENDRIGKSON.
